prose Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Okay, so I have been pondering this new baby thing. Well, I love my little girl sooooo much... I can't imagine loving another one this much. I might explode from love!!! And I am scared out of my mind about labour again. (For those that didn't know, if this baby doesn't come by Sat, I am being induced).
homeschoolmom Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Love grows exponentially. I don't know how it happens, but it does. I didn't think I could ever love anyone as much as my daughter, but I have two sons that I love just as much...
franciscanheart Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 i myself have wondered that. how do you end up loving the 2nd one as much as the 1st? and what about the 3rd, 4th, 5th.... i guess you have to experience it to understand...
cmotherofpirl Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 (edited) Each child is an opportunity to fall in love again. Its a fallacy that there is only so much love one can give another. There is no fixed amount or limit to love , it expands as your family expands. Edited September 22, 2005 by cmotherofpirl
homeschoolmom Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Now the guilt can really begin. mwhahahaha...
homeschoolmom Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005
guilt for what?
What if two of my children needed one of my kidneys?? Oh, silly little things. The first one has the great baby book and tons of videos... The second one has a mediocre baby book and a few videos... The third one has an empty baby book with pictures shoved in it and I think we might have video evidence of his existance. I'm hyper sensative to stuff like this: When I only had one, I put her in the safest spot in the car-- backseat center. Well, when my second was born, I moved my daughter over to the side. And when my third was born, she moved to the far back seat. I always have this gnawing fear that if we were in an accident, she's the one who's in the least safe spot... I know it's silly, but I'm weird that way.

Not to mention that I was a little worried for my parents since I am the youngest of (brace yourself) 12.

Didacus Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 A wise man who had twelve children was onced asked: "Which of your children do you love the most?" The wise man replied: "The one amongst my children that I love the most is the one that is sick and needs my care, the one that is lonely and needs to talk, the one that is lost and seeks my wisdom, the one that is crying and needs my affection." Hard to put in words what all that means. If I am playing with my son, won't I stop the instant my daugter gets hurt and runs to me? Seems common sense doesn't it, but it gets tricky at times, especially when tough love is in order. I love my three children, all of them equally (there are no limits to how much I love each one, thus yes, I can say with confidence that my love for them is equal to each), but you love them each differently because each are different.

thessalonian Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Love doesn't divide, it multiplies. I have 8 and love every one of them. The hard part is at times you don't feel like you spend enough time with each one individually. Yet, in fact it more than multiplies because not only do my wife and I love each one as much but they all love eachother, even though at times when they are fighting it doen't seem like it. Each child brings it's own special blessings even in the trials they bring to you. Our 3 yr Old has a hearing loss from birth. Yet, having to deal with that has been a blessings for our family in the opportunities we've had through it to meet other very nice and interesting people and learn about what he has to deal with. Don't worry about not being able to love another one as much. You will be just fine.
jasJis Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I only have 2 kids, but have 5 siblings. Kids are all different and will give you different reasons to love (and punish) them. I think it would be weird to have twins when they're babies, but all the identicaltwins I know (4 sets) once you know them, they're as different as apples and oranges. Weird, huh?

I couldn't understand where the love for another child would come from. Believe me, we have nooooo idea how much love we have in us! Lots! It just keeps on growing and growing, and it's the best feeling in the world.
