[quote name='Cam42' date='Sep 25 2005, 09:05 PM']That is not true...you know stuff....
Who is my opposite?  I would probably have to say that there are two types of people who fall into that category......

1.  Protestants
2.  Schismatics (whether they admit they are or not)

What about atheists, neo-pagans, agnostics, apostate "Catholics"?

What about them?

If they are formal in their dissent, then yes. If they are material in their dissent then no. Notice that the groupings were not broad at all. They were very specific.

[quote name='Extra ecclesiam nulla salus' date='Sep 25 2005, 10:21 PM']how about everyone in the world who is not catholic.

How about not. Not all non-Catholics are wrong in their thinking....there are those out there who don't know better. They may not have been taught or they may have no natural or formal knowledge of what it means to belong to the Church....

I am not opposite of them. Baptism of Desire, Sam.

Just that I'd consider most people in the above categories to be more opposite to my Catholic beleifs than Protestants or Schismatic.

[quote name='tomasio127' date='Sep 25 2005, 04:14 PM']The Charismatic Renewal is not just about praise songs, although Charismatics tend to like them. I must say that as far as my cup of tea goes, I much prefer charismatic masses where people SING faithfilled praise songs, than most of the others masses around here where people MUMBLE songs that are neither praise nor beautiful old hymns, I don't know what to call them.

Thank you, Tomasio! I think a lot of people don't understand the Charismatic Renewal, have never been to a Charismatic Mass or Charismatic convention Mass celebrated by a Bishop or Cardinal as I have. Two years ago I was at a Charismatic convention Mass celebrated by Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles, and having said that I imagine there is approval of the Charismatic Renewal or he wouldn't have presided. Plus, Fr. Stan Fortuna always appears and a speaker, singer, celebrant, and BTW Phatmass is a link on his website. Also, Pope JP II was very enthusiastic about the Charismatic Renewal, so it isn't something sacreligious, weird, or non-Catholic. Be gentle, folks, it's just another form of worshiping God. Maybe not the way YOU worship, but viva la difference. :blowkiss:

Is that supposed to support your argument? You may want to find someone more credible than the Archbishop of the Raj Mahal to support you.

Well, I don't know much about Cardinal Mahoney, but I do know that our previous Bishop established a charismatic parish as a personal parish of the Bishop, and our current Bishop maintains that status and is very supportive us. He finds us to be a blessing to the dioceses, have the highest per capita financial giving and the most vocations, period of all our parishes. Since our building was finished four years ago, our number of parishioners has increased by 60%. As I've mentioned on phatmass before, we're also widely regarded as one of the most conservative, orthodox, and traditional parishes in the diocese. "By their fruit you shall know them."
