Yahoo has been putting a lot of carp in their URLs lately. Probably to cut down on external linking. The link is fixed now.

I won't be going on this diet until McDonalds comes out with the "Golden Ratio Value Meal".

The diet does sound yummy though. Don't believe the stuff about the Golden Ratio though.

No its based on Leonardo Da Vinci's studies and is capitalizing on the Da Vinci code.

Not everything associated with Da Vinci is Catholic bashing.

It may be a silly diet, but let's not call it what it isn't.

Umm oh yeah... duh!
The diet is based on the Golden Ratio or Phi, a mathematical value that was used to build the pyramids
Phi wasn't used in Egypt, and It wasn't even discovered until the Golden Age of Greece. I've seen arguments to the contrary, but none hold up. There's a very good book about Phi called The Golden Ratio by Mario Livio. His main point was that the Divine Proportion is a wonderful thing in nature... but in terms of human architecture and achievement, it's largely chimerical.

The Egyptians maybe didn't mean to use phi, but they got close to it. Though phi wasn't technically defined until Greece, many cultures use it without knowing what it is. When elements are used that have a basis in phi they look good. It's an artistic ratio thing. Lots of people use it without realizing what exactly they are doing.

Yes, but Levio in his book pointed out that the dimensions on his tv set correlate better to phi than do the pyramids. There's a difference between aimlessly drawing a picture that looks like someone's sister than using someone's sister as a model for a drawing.

Golden Ratio Value Meal. That's funny. I find it ridiculous that someone would base a diet off of the golden ratio. Seems kinda awkward to me.

The only way to apply the GR to a diet would be to ratio food groups into servings based on the FIbonacci Sequence. Like, One serving fat, one serving salty, two servings fruit, three servings of vegetables, five servings of starches. Scary how much sense that makes.

I wish I could apply this to doing well in calculus.

You'll have to eat your hamburger in a logarithmic spiral pattern.
