Dave Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 My family and I haven't been getting along. I can't take any more of this. I just want to pack my bags and move out, but I have no place to go.
hooverbloob Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Hi Dave, What's going on my friend? I'm newer to the board so I don't know any history if you have given any in the past. Perhaps some of our wisdom here on the board can help you or sypathize with you? Let's talk about this and see how we all can help you! Hoover
Dave Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 It's actually nothing I've talked about on here, and I'd rather not talk about it on here either.
the_rev Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Well I know of a few options.... at least in Wisconsin.... I personally know Abbot Gary Neville of our Norbertine Abbey in Wisconsin and I'm sure if you talked to him about the situation, he'd let you stay for free in the retreat center. They always welcome guests at their table. That means if you moved there, you could go to mass with the Institute of Christ the King every day and weekend, and go to all the holy hours and stuff, because it's only about 2.3 kilometers from the abbey and I'm sure I could pick you up too!
jiyoung Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Yeah, I agree. Probably if you ask a monastery in your area and tell them the problem, they would let you stay on for a while. I'm assuming it's a pretty bad problem and not just bickering, and if in that case I'm sure you'd be able to stay there for a bit. I'm thinking you'll probably have to do your share though in order to provide as far as room and board type of deals, but I'd go with that first.
MC IMaGiNaZUN Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 good evening dave. I am currently reading an ethnography (a type of anthropological study) on runaway teenagers. Very very very very interesting read. A part of me wants to run away with them, and take them to Jesus. Anyways... Today it talked about the majority left from terrible family situations. Whether it was abusive, divorce, or just distance. The ones that left because they wanted adventure. I don't know where you fit in. But if you need a weekend away, you can visit the monastery i just joined. However, we have to pretend to be good friends, and that you are visiting SHALOM
Philippe Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 he isnt a teen, i wish i could help you out but i cant, sorry
the_rev Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 There are norbertines in Mississippi and New Mexico, if you don't want to come to green bay.

Dave Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 Thanks everyone ... I didn't really think anyone would take me seriously, though. To Toledo_Jesus: I'm currently unemployed, so I can't afford any apartment right now.
CatholicAndFanatical Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Wow Dave, I didnt know this was going on. Im sorry to hear this bro..and I know how you feel. I get along fine with my family as long as were talking on the phone or something. But if I am with them for too long I get upset..could be the 20 million dumb questions they ask me, or the way they make me feel..whatever it is, I cant stay with them for too long. One thing is for sure you should be able to count on the Church for help. The Church has helped me out financially so many times and really got me out of the holes I was in. So too will She help you if you ask. At least help in getting a place to stay. Maybe there is something you can do at the local Parish for a job? You are a writter so maybe ask to help with the local diocese paper or bulletin. I will keep you in my prayers my friend. I apologize that I cannot offer more right now. I dont think its coincidence that alot of people are hurting today (financially and emotionally). Maybe thats our cross, maybe its the sign of the times and the end is approaching. Keep your head up man, and trust in God's Will. Rest assured He is with you. Dont be like me and turn your head to Him. Trust Him and you'll pull through. much love man. God Bless
Era Might Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 (edited) Sorry to hear this. If I had my own apartment, you'd be welcome. Keep up the good fight. Edited October 1, 2005 by Era Might

Dave sometimes the best thing for family harmony is independence. I officially started supporting myself at 19. It forced me to take some pretty awful jobs to make ends meet. I've had to live in some serious ratholes as well. But there is joy in the struggle. Twenty years later, I have the freedom to call the shots on who I work for, where I live and how much I make. It wasn't easy getting here but it was totally worth it.
