azaelia Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 My priest likes to give out "fluffy" penances..."Reach out to someone and affirm them..." Usually when a priest does that, I ignore it and say a decade of the Rosary, focusing on the mystery I think relates best to the prevalent theme of my sins. Is that bad?

of course praying the rosary never hurts, but you should do the penance your priest assigns, no matter how "fluffy" it may seem. if the priest has deemed even the most remedial act as being the very act of charity that will undo what your sins have done to the Body, then that is what you must do. Jesus ratifies in heaven what the priest commits you to, even when its something like "affirming someone else." so, do your penance and rest assured that it is effective. of course, anything u want to do after that is beneficial to the Body as well. thanks for asking your question!!!! : pax christi, nick

Just an example
azaelia Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 Hmmm, turns out this guy gave out the same exact penance to my mom and sister too.

In any event...do the penance he asks of you. Christ favors obedience far more than anything else you can give Him.
