banning immorality

dairygirl4u2c

If something is immoral, and someone knows it, but someone else didn't think that thing was immoral, and you were the person who didn't think it was immoral, would you want former to not allow you to do what you don't think is immoral?

Yes, if in fact it is immoral, and depending on the kind of authority the person who knows it is immoral has over me. I suspect that the government should not try to (forcefully) prevent immoral behaviour more than is necessary for the well-being of society (in the sense of running smoothly). Parents are also in a position of authority, and are also charged with forming their (young) children. Therefore they should, I think, enforce morality not only as necessary to keep the family working smoothly, but also to form the children with a sense of right and wrong and to encourage them to live virtuous lives. Having said all that, I think it would more likely be a friend I would want to prevent me, because then it's because they care for my well-being.
Did any of that make sense?
