Guest Guest Person Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I have a question, When you go to confession are ALL your sins forgiven even if you don't specifically say all your sins? Like what if you really wanted to, but you were too scared/embarrased to tell the priest? and what if you weren't comfortable to tell them? But in your heart you were truly sorry but didn't say? Is it okay to recieve communion if you didn't confess all your sins, but you were still sorry for them? This is a question that's been on my mind for a while.... and if it wasn't okay to recieve communion.. then should I say that sin to my next confession? Because I did revieve communion on several occasions with out telling ALL my sins because I was too embarrased......... Also, do we have to specifically tell what our sins were? or can we just list down the commandments that we disobeyed? (sp?)
cappie Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 If you are conscious that you have comitted a mortal sin then you are required to confess it by the type of sin and the number of times if you can remember otherwise a description and an approximate number is OK pastorally speaking. The priest will help you and believe me will understand your "forgetfulness" but it is really important we "own" the sin otherwise it will return to haunt with questions you are asking now. I have been a priest for 23 years and was once young (believe it or not) : I have been severely embarrased in confession both before and after my ordination, but there is nothing like confession. I'm sure God understands your embarrasement and looks kindly on your efforts to life the Christian life.
