theculturewarrior Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I know some of you miss fellowship in your former churches, but it seems like some protestants are limited in that way. One of my coworkers can't be friends with people who don't believe what he does! I can be friends with anybody, and nobody will shake their finger at me. I love that!
philothea Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I wonder where protestants come up with that spin on things. Did they miss the part about Jesus eating with tax collectors and prostitutes?
sweetpea316 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 No kidding! This has always bothered me. I'd always been told that going to church with, having a Bible study with, or praying with someone that isn't of your same religion is so wrong. They said it could be dangerous for your faith, which, if your faith isn't very strong, then I suppose it could be...but still. I've never seen the harm in it. Well, maybe they do have reason to be apprehensive...seeing as how I havn't followed that wish and am now on the path to Catholicism.
avemaria40 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Catholic means universal. Maybe that's another reason i was attracted to it, because it signified unity for me. so it makes sense that they won't give limits on who u pray and study with it.
tojo Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 My last church's pastor taught that we're to be friendly to everyone, but that we shouldn't invest much into any relationships unless there was a God-given reason to, like being related or attending the same church....
Didacus Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 When I read through some of the anguish and difficulties many have had while searching for the truth, I reallize how blessed I have been to be born a Catholicf and to have great parents that put the proper importance on it. I can honestly say I have never felt forced to believe anything, and was left free to explore other beliefs and faiths on my own, and found that the Catholic faith is the one that makes the most sense in my life. I never had to convert, or look into converting nor had any 'trials' in that respect. The stories of people converting to Catholicism has been to me a source to strenghten my faith, and those who left Catholicism... well... I feel for them. (some are really close friends) So what do I love about being Catholic? The freedom that has been left to me within it. The freedom to venture in the world and walk towards God in my own way, in my own time. I thank God daily for that (maybe weekly... lol, but often anyways). God bless us... every one!
