The answers are inadequate, and I explain why, and no one wants to answer more, harder questions that don't have premade answers to them, or don't want to accept that the CC might be wrong due to the uncertainty of the situation when they can say it either is or it is not right based on the info, and they choose by default to say it is. Frankly, I don't think I've disproven the CC, I never claimed that, I simply see way too many unanswered questions that need research, beyond what a simple run to your catholic.com and see what you can get. History can be easily construed to fit anyone's beliefs, religions can easily be retrospectively fixed to continue. Real research is justified.

If you want specifics, please, start a thread and I will address anything honestly.

I agree, she should! (I talk in this manner in jest)
I also think others should make more polls though, the ones that are created are usually just as but but more, it'd help to let you see that it takes time to think about how to word a poll well and even then yeah.. and it'd add to the creativity of the phorum.

One thing I take issue with, then...is the fact that you start [i]polls[/i]. Polls are for rounding up some quick numbers.

If you want discussion, as you indicate at the beginning of your post, then why not just POSE THE QUESTION. You start a [i]poll[/i] and then wonder why no one forms an adequate response to your poll? That's not the point of a poll!

yea, for real. i honestly can't understand her half the time. the way she words her sentences.........its like english is her second language. i'm honestly not trying to be offensive here. people who speak english as a second language construct their sentences the way she does. its just confusing. its either that or she is just not used to writing out her thoughts, or never really learned how, or something. i can't ever put my finger on it, but its really frustrating and annoying.

I tend to write out my thoughts as I think, and that doesn't include proofing my writing to ensure that I'm being clear. I do think my thoughts though, the unclarity simply makes it harder to understand. Plus there's just so many things to say and so little time. I probably should stop and ask myself what's really important and forget everything else so I can put more time into keeping the main idea clear. but yea, time.. people to do, things to see, and all that jazz...

Sounds like you need to take the time to proof them, then.
I've been on the web for quite a while, and I take pride in being able to look over threads with the practiced eye of a German in a Thai brothel. Incoherence and a wandering line of thought completely turns me off. As you say, "there's just so many things to say and so little time"...have the decency to craft your posts as to not waste [b]our[/b] time.

That'd be fun. I must say, I tend to think the limits of orthodoxy are quite comfortable in this regard. However, as the ultimate substratum of all reality is God, and God is not knowable in the same sense as created phenomenon, I can see where the inevitable wall of mystery which one approaches in pursuing certain questions could be a source of discouragement for some people. I consider it rather evidence of truth when a system leads necessarily to the "cloud of unknowing".

I think that while socrates' poll made me laugh, it was the kind of laughing where you feel bad about it afterwards. it seems kind of mean to dedicate an entire thread to how much you don't like a certain member's posts. definitely not Catholic charity at its finest.

However, it is important to note that while the nature of internet message boards is instantaneous, it does not necessarily mean we have to abandon the elements of good writing. While on the internet I have a tendency to slack off on punctuation and capitalization, I still think it is important to write clearly.

oh, come on. if you ask us questions about what we believe and what we stand for, we should have the right to wonder about what your beliefs are. Also, it doesn't take a phatmass poll to point out that many people out there are calling themselves Catholics without having a clue about what the Church teaches. The same goes for all Christian denominations. Every group is going to have its die-hard faithful followers and its less orthodox people on the fringe.

the Catholic Faith is the faith of the Early Church--the apostles, the martyrs, the saints. It is the fullness of God's truth. Of course there are going to be people who stray away from the flock and make up their own religions. but the Catholic Faith will always be true regardless of whether or not people believe in it.

Maybe I was uncharitable, maybe not. However, if you've been on here a long time (i've been here well over a year), you'll see these threads and polls are merely endless repetitions, arguing for abortion, against Catholic morality etc. If polls do not give the desired results, another poll is made on the same subject with somewhat different wording.
When we do not capitulate in a debate, we are told we'll have to "agree to disagree," then yet another poll or thread appears arguing the same "pro-choice" positions.

yeah, it is frustrating when people aren't open about their agendas, or come off as having one agenda when really they're pushing another. maybe pointing this out can further some more honest dialogue. or maybe I'm just way too optimistic for my own good I do think you should dress up as LittleLes for Halloween, though. you can cut out a huge smiley out of cardboard, maybe one like this:
