Aloysius Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 My business manager and I are planning a business trip around the US to meet perspective clients this spring. If you know anyone who either wants to join us in building a Catholic psuedo-city-state or wants to build his own Catholic pseudo-city-state, we might stop in to discuss it realistically with them. So where in the country is the interest? We're probably talkin either United States or Canada mainly here. Anyway, I have my business manager structuring more things in regards to other business things, as General Ops Director I'm mainly concerned with the formation of these cities and such. online services: aloysius@chesterbel.net gen ops director: bdougherty@chesterbel.net business manager: mkuzma@chesterbel.net http://www.chesterbel.net
Cow of Shame Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 didn't the hippies give this sort of thing a try? I dunno...I'm sure anyone who starts a project like this has the best of intentions, but it just gives me the heebie-vibes
Era Might Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 People born in 1987 shouldn't have business managers.... I feel inadequate...
Aloysius Posted October 8, 2005 Author Posted October 8, 2005 we're not planning on doing it like the hippies. we're planning on researching and utilizing the best of traditional architecture to make it, sort of like a medieval-walled city. roads are for people, and cars are parked on the outskirts. anyway, I don't want you to think it's a hippy operation. lol. but I understand your reservations. I think our plan is really distinct from hippies and stuff... we're not looking to get out of work and be lazy. we're not looking for a place to 'be free with nature' or what not. we want a real city where we do real work and still use real modern luxuries, but in a setting where it's easier to fully own your own home and your own business and where the streets are friendly to walk around on.

philothea Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Don't worry, he does it to me too, Aloysius. A LOT. Nitpickers can't help themselves. (wanders off muttering something about ninja pajamas...)
Aloysius Posted October 9, 2005 Author Posted October 9, 2005 lol.. wow... I'm usually the one correcting other people... though I guess when it comes to posting on PhatMass I never really pay much attention. but usually the correct words come naturally to me. thanks for the english humility check

Aloyisius was collateral damage . . . and I at least had enough presence of mind to sort of apologize while I was doing it I see you received the latest installment
photosynthesis Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I might be interested. I mean, heck, I'm graduating in college in 2 months and have no idea what I'll be doing with my life so my options are WIDE open. but your site said you were seeking men so i'm not sure if chesterbel is for the ladies.

Aloysius Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 lol. well, there's no pricing available until there can be a proper gage of interest. anyway, I'm real traditional when it comes to my english language. there is no distinct word for the male of the species, we have to take the generic "man"... while you ladies get your own special word "woman"... well you know how it is. us poor males don't get our own special word like you females. anyway, a man can be male or female in my book. we are all men except those of us who are monkeys.
photosynthesis Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 i'm not one of those PC maniacs who wants all-inclusive language but at the same time i'm definitely not a man. I don't think any woman, regardless of the time in history, would think of herself as a "female man." unless there are some psychological gender identity issues going on. you can say men to refer to men and women, but nowadays people just say people. so what's there for unmarried ladies in your city-state-intentional community whatever it is?
Aloysius Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 I believe there's a quote from St. Agatha wherein she refers to herself as a "man" anyway, I'll conced in modern times we generally don't use it in the singular to refer to a singular female (though way back when, they did) but that was plural! searching for men. now the little piece was thrown together as probably not my best peice of writing ever (it's in my random online style that I always use kind of), but I do know that when I say looking for men, I'm saying I'm looking for human beings... there's no reason to use an adjective-noun combination when there exists a much more succinct word that covers that :
Aloysius Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 unmarried gals... INTO THE CONVENT WITH THEM! lol... no, of course not. there's whatever you can make of yourself.
