Musicians Please Respond

Hey thanks.

I do know about Taxi. I'm not into it right now. Maybe some day.

You are single, right? Being married has a lot to do w/ my ambivalence re: the establishment industry in general. That and seeing what'd happened to ppl I once knew. That's why it's so cool to see these hosting places...and look at you; you're growing online (not just numbers and NOT just production wise). The people are there for the ride, watching you improve. They want to see what you come up with next.

The gb reviews I would have time to do. If there's anything y'all know me for, it's blah blah blah-ing. We'll see.

I love the idea of the young computer wiz...and I actually have received offer of help gratis from one. Maybe he'd like to learn recording. Maybe he'd be good at it.

My best help mate over the years in this area is playing and recording for a living. Not available anymore basically. I'll look about me and pray and see what comes my way.

And if you can enlighten me about the last post problems in hearing "Walkaway", I'd be obliged.

Good enough, inDeed, but maybe you'd also throw in your 2 cents about what I'd first asked?

MusicanS it said, plural: Please Respond :)

Married w/ child? Wow! Well, you're an exception in my experience. It must be the Catholicity in big part steering you.

We're on dial up. Is there no way to get the stream as a stream instead of squirt-gun shots o' tuneage?

It sounded very good; is Walkaway then what you'd call "poo" production wise?
Any of you artists who have a host site by which your music can be heard, I'm interested in any details you can give about this process, which I know very little about. WHY did you choose whatever site you happen to be with?
I use TheHostRack.com for ALL my host needs - both in design (ProlificDesignOnline.com and CatholicSound.com. I also used them when I hosted a site under my emcee alias: inDEED.

I chose them because they offered a GREAT deal - a lot of bandwidth/space for a low price...
I'm supposing funds play into ppl's choice to sites as well?
Yup.
And PS: do any of you prefer not to have downloadable files on your site? As a listener I don't want to wait and download, also I don't trust the  usually unknown source of the files...plus I have issues about artists not being compensated fairly for their work...but I guess the existence of the file itself is permission for anyone to "take" it?
This is where streaming audio comes in REAL handy...

It allows for the listener to hear your music, but not download it. It's the perfect compromise...Ryan's site is an awesome example of this...
Any regrets, ie music being taken for free vs the exposure you get?
Nope - none.
Is there a way to play the MP3's, so one can hear how the mix sounds, etc; without joining a music host site? I mean, so that the artist can hear their own final mix and judge it sufficient before putting it out into cyb space.

Yeah...but I don't know if it'd be worth YOUR time or your listener's...

Sites such as...

SoundClick.com
MySpace.com
PureVolume.com

These sites will allow you to remove/add tracks as you feel fitting...

Hope that helps...

i don't mean to belittle the work i did on the last record, or mike's production prowess. i'm just saying that this one is going to be heads and shoulders above the last, songwriting and production-wise. inDEED's heard quite a few of the new songs and can let you know about that
