Perpetual morning in wee hours of the morning

Yesterday during Mass, Father was discussing the importance of perpetual adoration, and encouraging people to think about signing up to adore the Sacrament for an hour a week.

Having a crazy college schedule, the only times that would work the best was early morning (midnight to 6 AM). Father also mentioned that this is the time slot that needed the most amount of people. I chose Wednesday morning (it'll most likely be 2 AM). I get home early on Tuesday, so I can take a "afternoon-evening" nap.

My non-Catholic boyfriend thinks it may affect my sleep schedule and schoolwork. I say, if God wants me to adore the Blessed Sacrament, He'll provide. Also, I've noticed that spending time in front of Jesus invigorates me, gives me more strength.

Anyone else have experience with late night/early morning adorations? Should I load up on caffeine beforehand?

The late night\early morning adoration has always been the most rewarding for me. But I will tell you this: if you fall asleep\doze off, don't feel ashamed. There is a reason for it. God is not going to think any less of you for it. I think it is an awsome thing for you to attempt and if you decied you can't do it, then try another time slot.

I had a 3 am adoration time. It was awesome. I wish that I could do it again.

it's good for you!

I have a natural tendency to want to stay up all night, so I don't think it would be good for me to do late-night adoration because it would just encourage me to stay up really late and I'd get no sleep. but if you're normal, then I think late night holy hours are a great thing!

I think God will provide for you too if your b/f or you are scared it might mess up your sleep schedule. And ditto on that Adoration invigorates you. I always go to the church for at least 15 min. to do Adoration before our musical practices becasue they always last until at least 10:00 on school nights.

Good Luck and Peace,
Dan

You've answered your own question.
See I knew you were brilliant.

I wouldn't recommend posting after an early morning/late night adoration. It may come out like

"Perpetual morning in wee hours of the morning"

Hahah, whoops! I posted this right after biochem lecture. And we have a test on Wednesday. Since I can't even get sentences to come out right, I'm really concerned!

Oh yeah, what happens if the other adorer doesn't show up? Do you always need to have 2 present to adore Jesus?

It is preferred to have two scheduled adorers if possible. However, one adorer is allowed. Obviously the Church wants as many people as possible adoring the Eucharist! We're all called to respond to God's love in adoration.

I think one of the reasons for the need for more than one adorer is because unfortunately there are a lot of evil people out there. Lots of parishes with perpetual adoration chapels have problems with people coming in and either stealing the Eucharist from the Church when no one is there, or desecrating it in some form. My parish here in Baltimore (immaculate conception) has a little red button in its Adoration Chapel and when you press it, it automatically dials the police.

Nothing, no and why?

One of our parishes has PA and there has never been a "numbers requirement." Having one doesn't make sense, why does it matter?
Some smaller parishes barely have the one for the hour. Two would be a luxury.

My only problem with the "numbers" is when there aren't any. :scratchhead: I have walked in to the chapel and there is no one there. Or during "shift change" the replacement does not show up so I stay.

When I am alone I talk to Jesus out loud or blow bubbles. So me being the only one there works. Plus I turn the lights way down so that the spotlight is on the Monstrance.

If my parents would let me, I would totally do it!!!

I have one about 2 miles from my house, and I heard that is the best to go in the wee hours of the morning.

You are not concentrated on anything, and it is a great sacrifice.

I have done it before, I think twice...It was hard, but it was a great experience!!!! :D: :saint:

You should write a letter to your Arch-Bishop and have a petition demanding perpetual Adoration!!!!!!!

I've been told that Church law says there should be two adorers always present, but it doesn't happen very often because it's just not really possible. Does anyone know the "official" rule for this?
