Carrie Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Sometimes I take the little things in life for granted. I often need to remind myself to constantly give thanks for the small stuff. Today, I'm thankful for the warm cup of coffee in my hand and for the good job that I come to everyday. What are the little things that you're thankful for?
Sojourner Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I'm thankful for my great housemate. It's nice to have someone to laugh with from time to time.
Carrie Posted October 11, 2005 Author Posted October 11, 2005 I'm thankful my wardrobe does not include a pink scarf with bears.
Sojourner Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 And beads. Don't forget the beads. I'm thankful I got a great new lotion so hopefully this winter I won't have such problems with dry legs.
Carrie Posted October 11, 2005 Author Posted October 11, 2005 I'm thankful that I have friends that pray for me and that I pray for.
Sojourner Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I'm thankful for showers. And indoor plumbing in general.
onathing1 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 mmmhmm, flannel blankets are wonderful! me too!
sweetpea316 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I'm thankful for having a car... even though I can never find a parking spot behind my dorm.
Proud2BCatholic139 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 There was a poem I read last year for IB English 11. It is called "Pied Beauty." The author was trying to explain that we should give thanks to God for everything he created, even the "ugly" things. But I don't think anything is ugly in this world. Everything is unique because it comes from God. I'm thankful for the little things. I have to remember that not everyone as fortunate as me. Thank you, Jesus!!!!

That's one of my favorite poems by one of my favorite poets, Gerard Manley Hopkins ... GLORY be to God for dappled things— For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow; For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim; Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings; Landscape plotted and pieced—fold, fallow, and plough; And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim. All things counter, original, spare, strange; Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?) With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim; He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change: Praise him.
tojo Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 (edited) I am so thankful for my friends who are the best brothers-in-Christ ever: Jeff - the best roommate ever. He puts up with my crazy Catholic-ness, and even seems to enjoy all the Protestant jokes, even those at his expense. He helps me with computers, pool, martial arts, girls *cough*, and is always ready to pray: free style, the divine office, even rosaries sometimes. (PRAY FOR JEFF!!!!!!!!!!) Allan - my very best freind. He inspires my crazy Catholic-ness and Protestant jokes, not to mention the overly extreme conservative rhetoric that is so hilarious. He drives me to Mass, comes over hangs out, and does the Divine Office and the Rosary with me everyday. We study together, laugh together, and he's just great. He's going to be a great preist, btw. Stephen - Allan's brother, who got me through RCIA last semester when Allan was in Japan. We went to some sort of worship or prayer meeting everday last winter, he drove me to the Easter Vigil and kept me from passing out in anticiaption of Confirmation and the Eucharist. He really inspires the charismatic portion of my spirituality also. James - my RCIA sponsor. A housemate. He got in the class late, volunteered to sponsor me. He's also a great friend my age who is real leader in the student parish, excellent classical guitarist and student meeting worship leader. Does the Divine Office and the Rosary with me everyday. Whenever I need to pray with someone who understands my "Evangelical" spiritual sensitivities, James the Revert (who had been Protestant awhile) is the man I go to. he too, is going to be an awesome preist. Paul - my craziest friend. A housemate. Paul is Mary's main man and he got me hooked on the Rosary singlehandedly. Does the Divine Office and the Rosary with me everyday. He's also just a great guy whose there when you need him. He's discerning (Pray for Paul!) Joe - my new friend, Paul's friend. A housemate. Another one of Mary's right-hand men. I only met him a month ago, and he alreay deserves to be on this list. He also does the Divine Office and the Rosary with me everyday. I am so blessed with such wonderful brothers. Thank you Jesus. I could mention many more guys, but these are the one's who are wonderful blessings everyday. Edited October 11, 2005 by tomasio127

Faygo is made here and they don't seem to have it in a lot of other places.

Delicious.
