Michelle Duggar just delivered her 16th child, and she's already thinking about doing it again.

Johannah Faith Duggar was born at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and weighed 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces.

The baby's father, Jim Bob Duggar, a former state representative, said Wednesday that mother and child were doing well.

He said Johannah's birth was especially exciting because it was the first time in eight years the family has had a girl.

Jim Bob Duggar, 40, said he and Michelle, 39, want more children.

"We both just love children and we consider each a blessing from the Lord. I have asked Michelle if she wants more and she said yes, if the Lord wants to give us some she will accept them," he said.

The Discovery Health Channel filmed Johannah's birth and plans to air a show about the family of 18 next May.

The Learning Channel is doing another show about the family's construction project, a 7,000-square foot house that should be finished before Christmas. The home, which the family has been building for two years, will have nine bathrooms, dormitory-style bedrooms for the girls and boys, a commercial kitchen, four washing machines and four dryers.

Jim Bob Duggar, who sells real estate, previously lost his bid for the U.S. Senate. He said he expects to run for the state Senate next year but isn't ready to make a formal announcement.

Michelle Duggar had her first child at age 21, four years after the couple married.

Their children include two sets of twins, and each child has a name beginning with the letter "J": Joshua, 17; John David, 15; Janna, 15; Jill, 14; Jessa, 12; Jinger, 11; Joseph, 10; Josiah, 9; Joy-Anna, 8; Jeremiah, 6; Jedidiah, 6; Jason, 5; James, 4; Justin, 2; and Jackson Levi, 1.
I mean, it's all of God's plan and His will, but that is just incredible!!!!!!!!

There is a couple at my church, also my neighbors, who have 13 children. I mean, it is fairly uncommon, but I know people with FAIRLY large families.

I remember watching that TLC program about them :) It was really neat. Very crazy as well watching how they had to get everything done on time in that house.

She's just trying to catch up to my mom, God rest her soul. She had 17 (and one miscarriage late in the pregnancy due to a fall). No twins.

But you know something really funny. I was looking for a roomate to move in to my house when I was in Utah. This guy called up from my ad in the paper. We met. he seemed okay so a couple of weeks later I was helping him move in and we got to talking about our families. Turns out he came from a family of 17 and was the 12th child as well. He was 1 year older than me. The chances of this I would say are less than winning this 200 Mill dollar lottery. To think I could be rich with a different infitesmal odds event, but instead God had this in mind for me. Oh well, He knows best.

Praise God she and her husband are faithful to his command to be fruitful and multiply (exponentially I might add). "Happy the man who's quiver is full."

In my last Prot church one of the elders had 12 children (I think 13 might be on the way, not really in touch much now). Anyways, they were definately the coolest and normalest family in the church. Several other families there are on their way, the rest of the elders have at least 6. The church isn't so much anti-contraception as pro-big family...but that's a start...

Uuuugh, all their names start with "J"! :annoyed: (thats one of my personal pet peeves, kids whose names all start with the same letter!)

All I gotta say is that it must take a lot of work in order to raise so many children. Just think of all the food, housing, clothes, laundry! At least as they grow, the older children help with the younger ones and with chores.

Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler.

It's funny, one of my guy friends and I both want lots of kids, and one of my other friends thought we'd make a cute couple b/c of it. he was saying how he's going to have all these kids and i'm like, i'll have more than you, and he's like, Awesome! lol, kids rule and i hope God sees fit to bless me w/ many if i am called to be married. That's cool that that couple still wants to have all of those kids! 16, that's a huge family!

There are 10 in my family (& 7 miscarriages), and we were used to being the largest family we knew, but we've met larger at the family camp we go to. I think (the family I'm trying to think of right now) had 13 when we were at camp with them several years ago.
In my dad's family there were 8 children and my mom was the youngest of 5. My grandmother has 4+5+0+2+10+2+7+6=36 living grandchildren. But, if it's possible, miscarriages seem to run along my dad's side, through the males. Of course, if it can't be the males, it might just be the women they married.
