This reminds me of a story I once heard from a speaker at a Pro-Life conference. The speaker was relating how she had entered into an argument with a woman was Pro-choice. Ironically, this woman had her 5 year old daughter with her. The daughter was looking at a display of unborn children in the womb and said, "Look Mommy! Babies!" then the woman tried to "correct" her daughter by saying that those weren't babies, they were fetuses.

[quote]Marsha: “She did. Back in September. But the baby was born retarded so, you know, she did the right thing and took a trip to Holland.”

Jan: “That is so like Cindy. She has always been so compassionate.”

Marsha:“Oh, I know. She was really thinking about the child. I mean, what kind of quality of life would it have?"

Jan: “Exactly. It’s just a shame that she has to go all the way to Europe.”

Marsha: “Tell me about it. Until we get rid of Hitler, though, that’s what we have to put up with. At least Cindy has the money to travel. Just think about the poor women that have to resort to back-alley euthanasia.”

Maybe I'm just oversensitive because I'm too close to the situation (my brother being retarded), but people with an attitude like this deserve to die.

i agree with you. it is wrong to condemn a child to death simply so that you may live your life as you chose. if they say an innocent child should die because of retardation, then i think that they do not deserve any better! i'm sorry if that sounds harsh, and some of you may think so, and think that i'm judgemental, and if so, ask me about it some more, and i'll tell you that i have good reasons to be, reasons that i don't especially want to get into right now.

...nice try. *shrug*

I've got my satirometer set on high, personally.

sat·ire
n.

1. A literary work in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, or wit.
2. Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity.

that is SOOO sad.

sad because its true, sad because ppl think like this, sad because stuff like this happens everywhere

this really, really blows me away how this sort of thinking goes rapid when we know so much that is it not just a fetus.

fetus means "little one" in latin so they are misusing it if they are meaning to degrade it to just tissue.

we're actually learning all about the baby in one of my classes and i had to do a presentation over the development unborn babies go through in class. I made it a point to say unborn baby, not fetus and to say him/her instead of it

so many ppl are walking contradictions---we def need to stand up for life

That's why I liked my Developmental Psychology class. The professor started pre-natally.
