When they went up there were so many of them (there were a total of maybe 300 of us at mass) I almost thought they were a choir and we should get ready for some good ol' Gospel music to bring down the house. Just nuts.

Three, I am thinking of relinquishing my EM position at my church because of some recent changes. Four, I hope that they get some good ol' fashioned GIRM in their diet

Brother Adam Posted October 17, 2005 Author Posted October 17, 2005 lol. yep, I made it through. alive, heart is still beating. I will admit there is one thing I envy that charasmatics typically have - joy. One charasmatic here has more joy than most of the traditionalists I know put together.

Charismatics, IMHO, are too focused on the external feelings of that tingly feeling of goodness and 'joy'. Whereas, again IMHO, the traditionalist or more reserved individual who prefers the Church's traditional approach to worship, has a clear understanding that our joy is to be directed toward God, that at Mass we come to adore and worship the Most Holy Trinity.... we don't come for 'community'.

[right][snapback]761309[/snapback][/right] [/quote] It's Eucharistic Minister...except that the official term is "Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion"...once you remove that "extraordinary," people treat it like it's a right and a rank in the Church. ...of course, if you leave it in, they still might consider it a right and a rank...and think they must be just great at it, too...

I don't think there are more than 5 or 6 EMs total at my parish that would feel the same about it not being a right or a rank. Everyone else just seems to take advantage of it. I really am thinking about notbeing an EM anymore... I hate the fact that our pastor wants to speed up Communion so the EMs are supposed to approach the altar during the Agnus Dei. And then we kneeled when the Priest consumed, and then told later specifically "Were not supposed to kneel, but that's okay, it was our first time through." Arg... This is all too dumb.

They come to Mass for community and don't care a bit about worshipping God, they seem to think the Church is all about self-love and really understanding yourself. The Charismatics I know love the Lord and the Church and the sacraments, and go to Mass to worship.....
