Dust's Sister Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 If you've seen the topic, "what should I draw", most phatmassers have picked Mary. I want to draw her, but I need a good picture to refer to. I'm going to draw a big picture of Mary in black or white, so it would be good if this picture could be an 8 by 10, so I can print it out. I can only draw when I look at a picture...... thanks in advance guys! ~Darvon
the_rev Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 How bout Our Lady of Knock? She's a wonderful lady!
the_rev Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Our Lady appeared with St. JOseph and John the Evangelest. Though her message was unspoken, still in truth the silence lies, filled with joy at such a vision, as we praise your holy name!
Fides_et_Ratio Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 dude, the Pieta with Luke 2:19 would be awesome.
the_rev Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 JP2 had a major devotion to the Polish Lady, Our Lady of Czestochowa In the image below you see two marks on the cheek of our lady that is from someone who wanted to ruin the picture or something and so took a sword at it or soemthing. Look up the history for a more accurate vision.

The marks on her cheek were intentionally left by the restorers because they made an "H" (for Heretics). at least, that's what I was told in Poland.
the_rev Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 i knew I heard something about it, so Chelsea looked up a spelling for it so I could find an image.
Maria Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Do you want the tone to be joyful, sorrowful, luminous, or glorious? The pieta with Luke 2:19 would be awesome for a sorrowful one. Luke 2:35 would also be good for with a sorrowful theme, but not as contemplative. John 2:4-6 would be good with for a sort of luminous theme. Luke 1:46-47 would be joyful, and Luke 1:49 could be glorious.

well to tell you the truth, I plan on making a grid on the paper of the picture, and then a grid, on the paper that I will draw on, and I'm using the grid as a referance, so it's easier to draw, that's how I did the little girl picture, I got that picture from a magazine, and just made a grid, and then I just copied each of the little box's... but not with tracing paper, with real paper.... if you know what I mean.
franciscanheart Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 this is probably one of my favorite pictures of all time.
Maria Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 That's an 'I am the handmaid of the Lord' picture.

Dreamweaver Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Personally, I'm quite fond of "Madonna of the Streets", though any picture of Mary is cool. Good luck on the drawing, I'm sure it'll come out great!
