I'm celibate, but I don't have a formal vow or anything.. I might get married one day, but I might join an order too... or I might die tonight in my sleep.. we shall see..

But anyway, celibacy is.. interesting.. I think when it is vowed for the sake of the kingdom it is awesome, but when its just because I'm not married and am just chillin, its nothing much to speak of.

I haven't taken a vow yet (I need to find a spiritual director before I decide such a thing), but I think I very well might, one day. I would love to be a lay Carmelite but there are none in my area. If I ever find myself in such a vocation, I might take vows. Or as a lay Missionary of Charity (although I would be pretty inept at that!)

I plan on celibacy for the longhaul in priesthood! Celibacy so far is a beautiful thing and it rocks.

can men become lay Missionaries of Charity? As far as I know (and correct me if I am wrong), there are no men in that order...

I am considering joining a religious institute, but i'm also considering marriage, religious life, single life, etc---I have no idea!

but one thing about "ineptness." If God is calling you to a certain vocation, and it involves doing something you are "inept" at, sometimes God gives us certain graces and gifts we never had when we respond to Him in faith! I used to always say "I don't want to become a Dominican because I wouldn't be a good teacher." But that's no excuse, because God can make me a good teacher if he wants me to teach. He can do anything!

Yeah, the Missionaries of Charity even have priests. :)

Just a note to people who don't live alone (ie non celibates), don't eat collard greens. I can barely live with myself.
