[quote name='tomasio127' date='Oct 20 2005, 01:26 PM']I tend to say "ah-men" for rote prayers, and "ay-men" for spontaneous prayers and for "Amen" ejaculations (I was Pentecostal, sue me! lol).

there is such a thing called "ejaculatory prayer." like, "Jesus, I trust in you!" or "Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom Come!"

Jesus probably pronounced it something like "A-min".
That is the way that it is pronounced in Aramaic, even today. Just ask a Chaldean.

Sometimes when I'm praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, I'll suddenly break into a hail mary. I dunno why. Maybe I'm getting confused because of the rosary beads I'm holding.

Thank goodness you don't have the sense god gave a rhesus monkey to recognize a sentence.

<_<

Meh.... it's not worth it........

Tho anyone should be able to tell I'm not referring to sexual ejaculations, but ejaculatory prayer. Both definitions exist, and it's okay to use them really, don't be afraid......

I usually say "ah-men" because I grew up saying recited prayers in Korean, where a lot of words are based on the Latin pronunciations (since sounds in Korean are far more similar to Latin than English, and when presented with the two, going with what's easiest...ah. And because the missionaries taught Latin...or French too, I guess). I do say ay-men sometimes, but generally ah-men. It's also because I grew up in choir where it's pronounced ah-men (though with the "ah" vowel much longer, hence the "aw" mentioned above).
