Sojourner Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 We've not had DST for years -- I'm pretty sure we were on it in WWII when everyone else was, but then went off and just last year the legislature voted to put us back on. Now, only Arizona and Hawaii don't have DST at all. While the battle to get DST was, to put it mildly, RIDICULOUSLY emotional, now we've reached new heights of stupidity with the battle to decide which time zone we are. Currently, the line between central and Eastern time goes through the northwestern corner of the state, so that Gary and nearby cities are in the same time zone as Chicago. When DST passed the legislature, the feds said individual counties could petition to switch time zones, which several did. They've proposed that five get to switch to central, but they're splitting things up really oddly. Like, South Bend would be on Central, while neighborhing Elkhart would be on Eastern. In other words, the feds took an already screwed up situation and are proposing to make it worse.
theculturewarrior Posted October 26, 2005 Author Posted October 26, 2005 Well...if you've never lived with DST, the routine is this. It's AWESOME in Fall, but it's HORRIBLE in Spring.

photosynthesis Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I don't like it when daylight savings time ends because that means that the semester is coming to a close and that gets me STRESSED Usually I love fall but the academic year messes me up... I can't wait to be out of college so that I can really enjoy the seasons again. I wish I could stop associating Advent with Finals week and stress and learn to appreciate it for what it really is.
