CULTURE OF LIFE: A wonderful family that is really open to life and is able to support and care for kids, recently welcomed their 16th baby into the family.

CULTURE OF DEATH: Then this guy wrote this awful editorial insulting the family (read at your risk, it will make you MAD!!):

Ugh! Babies are not little threats to the environment, they are gifts from God!

that :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:!!!!!! i'm the oldest of 8 **not as big as some of those families on their** but none of us are attention deprived and wild maniacs!!! that little :censored:

I'm the oldest of 10. One of my aunts has 7 (or perhaps 8 -- not sure). And we're not repressed, or crazy, or having identity problems, or chewing up more resources than rich, single-or-no child families, or lacking attention (etc.).
You know, in big families, we actually learn to economize, to reduce, to reuse, and even to recycle. On the other hand, there's a pagan in my class, a single child, who would go shopping everyday if he could, doesn't give a fig about the waste that would cause, but conceeded that he would give his used clothes to the Salvation Army.

And how come I hear people crying that our generation isn't disciplined enough (as in self-discipline), yet they also tend to endorse a culture that leans towards self-gratification.

And isn't it weird that he was bewailing the re-population large families bring, when the real problem we will, and to some extent are facing is that of an aging society, with not enough young workers to care for them?

The only bright note is that, as he noticed, the next generations are going to be the ones formed in large family environments, not in the self-gratification culture of death.

And I thought the "unrepentant economic strain" was from too few workers! Stupid me!

"God does not want more children per acre than there are ants or mice"

Does this person know that there can be thousands of ants per acre?

16 is a lot of kids. Personally, I'd lose all my sanity if I had 16 kids. Both sets of my grandparents had 7, and I could handle that, I think... but 16? God bless them for being able to manage so well!

I was an only child, and I wish I was a little more attention-deprived. My family really did revolve around me and I still struggle with narcissism because the rest of the world does NOT revolve around me.

I don't think I'd give all my children names that start with the same letter. That is a little irritating.

as for this article, it is character asassaination, and the Duggar family can and should sue Mark Morford (the author of the desipcable article) and his publisher for libel and character defamation.

Here we have a perfect example of the culture of death, and why it's ultimately doomed to failure.

I've read many comments from blogs that people have said about this family. One thing I find striking. Many of those who call themselves "pro-choice" are the ones calling this family (especially the mom), filthy names. Ok, pro-choice, this means "let the mom choose what to do with her reproductive health." Doesn't she have the right to CHOOSE to have as large of a family as God wants?

See? By reading what those people spew from their mouths, their just proving that pro-choice = pro-abortion, despite all their rhetoric and such.

Posted

Their reply to that is that she has the right to choose (their not trying to make it illegal), but that they certainly have the right to call them all sorts of horrible names because of it.

if you're interested in looking into evidence for a kind of twisted social darwinism... i think this is it. pro-lifers have more kids! yay! pro-choicers don't have many kids or none at all. over time, pro-lifers will populate the earth and outnumber pro-choicers.

so this awful editorial does have a bit of truth... that because of the generosity of love, time, energy, money of a man and his wife, the world now has 16 more people who will grow up with pro-life values and change the country! YAY!!!! :-)

when I grew up, it was just me and my sis... just 2 of us. if it's my vocation to marry and have a family, i hope aim to give birth to about, oh, maybe 8! well, as many as God will give me!!

one thing i read about having kids without natural family planning: with ecological breastfeeding, God naturally spaces out an average of 8 kids/family (the avg # kids per family in 1930 was 9). But without breastfeeding or natural family planning, its 16!!! So I bet the Duggars aren't breastfeeding. but if they can handle it, more power to them!!! culture of life, here we come!! :)

i actually got bored reading it too. Just alot of senseless babbling and nothing other than his own opinion to support it. the fact that he resorted to name calling didn't do justice for his arguement either.

I'm an only child and i think my life would've been alot better for me if i had brothers and sisters. I don;t think i would've been as shy or sheltered as i was growing up.except for complications in concieving (as in my parents case), i almost think it would be an injustice to just have one child and spoil it. I don't think i turned out to be too selfish, but i know alot of people that grew up that way and are like that. I do have a friend whose from a family with seven kids, and they all seem to be doing fine and pretty well adjusted. i think if anything it teaches you more values and skills that an only child wouldn't be quite as exposed to.

:offtopic: SORT OF

My daughter is an only child. She cracks me up. OUTGOING, BOLD, OUTSPOKEN....the best way to describe her personality is that she is a CROWD. She has it all.

As far as values, you get taught what your parents believe. Whether it be
one child or twenty. The number doesn't or shouldn't matter. I was raised to be CATHOLIC and my daughter was raised the same way. The exposure to life that I was taught I passed on to her.

For example if as a child my family was shopping and a song came on we liked we would start dancing in the aisle. When I had my daughter the same thing. If a song came on that she liked she'd grab me or vice versa and we would start dancing.

Here is another example: When she was 5 I let her know that I found a soup kitchen that WE would be volunteering in. That Friday came I woke her up when I told her to get dressed we were going downtown to serve she tells me she thought I was kidding . I asked her why did she think I was kidding. She said "Mom I'm 5 years old." I said, "Yeah and you're CATHOLIC.....GET UP." 5 year olds can do a lot in a soup kitchen and be safe. She is 23 today and still out there volunteering somewhere.

OKAY....BACK ON TOPIC

i hope that it does happen that pro-lifers outnumber prochoice people.

That will be a good day.

Thank you! I was the oldest and only child for about 3 years but, i also didn't have first cousins for awhile and my whole family used to spoil me, so i do struggle with narcissism alot. And if libs keep complaining about us telling them waht to do in bed or what not to do, (b/c we're against contraception, abortion, divorce, homosexual actions, porn, masturbation, prostitution, premarital sex, and all that stuff) what gives them the right to tell us wat we can and can't do in bed? I thought we had a say in planning family's.

They said the kids would be attention-deprived...how are they attention deprived with that many playmates?

They said they were all interchangeable...how are they all interchangeable if there are 16 of them and not even twins are interchangeable?

This is just silly idiocy from someone we should pray for.

I'm not gonna read it. I just don't think my comp can take the physical abuse.

Poorly written. Even if I agree with him (and I don't), his writing has less style than a high school student's and less skill than a third graders.

Here is a hint to waht he believes. He calls God a "her"

"I don't care what sort of God you believe in, it's a safe bet that hysterical breeding does not top her list of desirables." italics mine

:mario: waht a fudger

edit: I am pretty sure i didn't write fudger.

hey missionseeker i wrote to that mother-fudger too. what an ass :ohno:
