I'm so glad they included one of those live versions... You'll get to hear the live versions of a few other songs once the phatmass radio gets back up and running. ;)

I'm not sure I'm following you. Every song on the album has structure, and a theme. Some of them may not be necessarily Catholic or Spiritual like Wake Up or Boom Bip. But you get a healthy diet of structured Christ-centered rhymes with a pinch of Mary.

maybye you could elaborate

Let's take a look at the track listing. Songs that I think have a strong Catholic/Christian message are in red, even though pretty much every song mentions Christ somewhere...

1. Awww Yeah... The Intro
2. Listen. Learn.
3. Boom Bip
4. Swing (the whole song is about fallen away Catholics coming back to mass)
5. Texas
6. Break Y'all feat Apollo
7. Axis feat Fr Pontifex (Christ is the axis on which the world spins)
8. Sorrowful (the sorrowful mysteries)
9. Wake Up feat Sammy Blaze
10. Once You Begin
11. Move
12. She Said Yes ( the entire third verse is about Mary)
13. Moses' Interlude (all about Mary)
14. Run Away (the struggle to live a Christian life)
15. Return to Maker feat Miko (writing a letter to God, very personal)
16. Life (strong pro-life message)
17. Runnin Out

I think that's a lot of very Catholic centered content, if you ask me.

Well. We do not feel that every song needs to be soaked in christian lyrics. In fact, our music from the start has been able to reach non-christians very easily. We try not to be too preachy, but definately give a good solid message through every track. Let look at each song:

1. Intro - this is an introduction, flip and I only have four lines each other than the long hook. Both of us speak of christ in our four lines.

2. Listen Learn. - All about Jesus and hearing the words we speak about and learning from them.

3. Boom Bip - more of a hip-hop song about styles and wordplay, but Christ is found in the verses especially in the last verse.

4. Swing - all about Catholics swinging into their faith, and not leaving such a rich faith.

5. Texas - A song about Texas. Not really about Jesus because he was never in Texas other than in the Eucharist, but even here Christ is mentioned in my verse.

6. Break Yall - More of a live song to get the crowd hype and dancing. Not really christian, but definately positive and fun.

7. Axis - All about Jesus being the axis the world spins on. There a priest rhyming for crying out loud.

8. Sorrowful - The sorrowful mysteries of the rosary. All about Christ's passion.

9. Wake Up - just a fun song to bob your head too. Sammy Blaze has some Christ centered lyrics in his verse. Flip talks about how we gotta pray through the virgin for help in our music.

10. Once you begin - targeting high school kids who are tempted by drugs and premarital sex. Tells them to let christ be the center.

11. Move - Another party jam type song about dancing and shaking to the music. Catered towards our live audience. If we don't have party jams our live shows would be dead.

12. She said Yes - A song dedicated to our fiances and to Mary. Both said yes to their callings. It's a beautiful song.

13. My interlude - Is about how dope Mary is and how she saved us by saying yes and bringing Christ into the world.

14. Run Away - a song about how we often feel we are unworthy when we sin and feel like giving up the race, and how Christ urges us to press on and follow him and take up his cross.

15. Bottom of My heart - Our personal letters to God. Very Deep true song where we speak from the bottom of our hearts to our maker.

16. Life - a song about life and particularly hot topics such as euthanasia, death penalty, and abortion. The message is life is a gift and sacred. This is scriptural.

17. Running out - a song about our farewell as a group and a thank you to all who made us what we were.

I'm not sure what more christian centered lyrics you were hoping for, but I think this album is full of them. We are no cross movement. we have found through experience that if your music is too preachy than it will turn off alot of listeners who need to hear it. I hope this clears up our position.

With love,

-Kiel

If you want P5C 110% Only-Christian, just wait until the "Sorrowful - Extended Remix" drops, where we turn that one song into an actual 20-minute rosary prayer and meditation... which will be followed by versions on the other mysteries that include more of the phatmass rappers. :)

guys, i think the album absol-freakin'-utely rocks. i'm definitely okay with not every song having a "message" - i tend to get tired of the album faster because i'm constantly having to think (geez!!). plus, i like just boppin' my head to the beat.

thanks for making a consistently awesome album - you guys are my heros. can i be you when i grow up?

yeah iv listened to the cd like another 10 times after i added that post and payed more attention to the words. its just that some of them the message is kindof hidden.

110% seems a little much. 50-55% is fine. it just took me a little time to hear what was in there. plus i like the songs that reach out to everyone just as much as the ones with a christian message. I just think that the songs that do have a chistian message should be a little more obviouse.
but thats just my opinion. Dont let me change your style.

You are a dope fan.

That's also the cool thing about having a whole phamily of artists here at phatmass. The new Akalyte (MC Just) album is gonna be pretty much hard-core in-your-face Catholicism. The new Sammy Blaze and Apollo albums will be totally different than anyone else, too. It's the variety of styles that keeps it fresh around here.

Sweet! I love that song.. I changed my mind on Swing, it's not my favorite anymore, I think Sorrowful or Wake Up is my favorite, but I think Sorrowful over covers all the songs on this album. You guys got a lot of good dance songs on this thing I love it!

Thanks for bringing us great music and I like the way you're doing it now. :)
