avemaria40 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Just curious. I take Spanish in school (5th year) and , yo me gusta mucho, (I like it a lot)
Cow of Shame Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I learned how to read it, not really speak it...and what I did learn is pretty much long gone.
Dudette Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I'm taking it, but I'm suffering. Ugh, I always get bad marks.
Christie_M Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I can speak it and read it...but I'm having truble spelling it...but it's not just with spanish : lol
jiyoung Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I've been taking it for a few years and I just realized that hey, my Spanish is not too bad! I was at an orphanage in Mexico today and I was actually able to communicate with people--I only used a little bit of sign language. I'm nowhere near fluent but I'm glad that I can at least get by now (but if I weren't able to after 5 years, I would be sorely disappointed in myself anyway)
doc Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005
yo me gusta mucho, (I like it a lot)
tiny correction.. its actually " A mi me gusta mucho" you have it... its not "yo" ITs "A mi" comon lil mistake. he he he . . . Doc is Spanish. . . I am a mutt  I was born in Guatemala City, Guatema(this seasons survivor takes place there... but in Tikal not the city!!...lol.) Moms side, grandpa is(well was, he is in better hands) Guatemalan but 100% Spanierd. His parents where from Spain. So my mami is 50-50, that makes me 75-25.
Muchas gracias.

beatty07 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I spent seven weeks this summer in Cuernavaca, Mexico studying Spanish for 6 hrs a day in a language school, speaking it all day long with my host family...I'm still in close touch with friends I made from there! I was amazed how much I learned in 7 weeks. Plus I loved Cuernavaca and Acapulco! Best of all, my diocese paid for everything. They asked me to go down there in the first place.
PadrePioOfPietrelcino Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 (edited) I didn't have the option I really needed. I've studied Spanish, French, and sign language, a bit of Eremasian Greek, I'll be starting hebrew next semester, and I can order a beer in German. I also tried to dabble in Russian, but that didn't work out well for me. so we need a Yes, and I've studied another/ other language/languages as well option. missionseeker Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 it's very important to know how to order beer in German.
jiyoung Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 "bier"? So many Germans speak English already anyways. btw--priest in Spanish is sacerdote, or cura--I've heard both. Sacerdote is a much cooler word, though
Pio Nono Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 JMJ 11/6 - Thirty-second Sunday Y la palabra para "diocese" in espanol es "diocese". Puede pronunciarlo con las foneticas espanolas.
tojo Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I studied Spanish for two years in high school and for two semster's in college. This summer at camp there were 8 kids from Spain (they came to practice their English), and I could speak alright to them. I also was at a Mexican restaurant last night and I spoke Spanish to the waitress. Recently I've been studying a Brazilian martial art, Capoeira, so I've been exposed to lots of Portugese lately, and have picked up a few bits. It is also a really cool language, and is very similar to Spanish in many ways.
