Sojourner Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Every year starting sometime around late September to mid-October, I begin a war with the Sock Monster. I'm sure those of you who wear socks have heard of this evil creature. He likes to devour one -- just one, mind you -- of each of my favorite socks, leaving me to either wear socks I don't like, or wear mismatches. It doesn't seem to matter whether my room is straightened or messy, or how diligent I am about doing laundry, or even whether I clip socks together. I've tried all these options, and still be left without socks. Most recently, he ate one gray sock and one new black trouser sock. If I ever catch this dude, his @ss is grass.
Jaime Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 And its always the left sock! What is up with that?
Sojourner Posted November 7, 2005 Author Posted November 7, 2005 Mine usually takes the right sock. Perhaps Minnesotan sock monsters are slightly different breed than their Hoosier brethren?
Thy Geekdom Come Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Maybe you should just buy your washing machine some sock puppets for it's talent show so it won't steal yours.
Sojourner Posted November 7, 2005 Author Posted November 7, 2005 Maybe that's what it's been doing ... perhaps that's why I haven't seen any mice lately -- the washing machine has been entertaining them with sock puppets.
Jazz4jesus Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 so i didnt know there were left and right socks, i have generic socks which just get lost under my bed then i find them

journeyman Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 is there a coriolis type effect for socks that divides between Minnesota and Indiana . . . instead of the equator? (for those who wanted to know, but were afraid to ask . . . What's a Hoosier?

I'm sure it will require study of some sort. Perhaps our universities could take it up. And that's a great link, btw. I'm a Hoosier, born and bred, and I've learned if you need to ask what it is, yain't one.

I have avoided feeding Snuggles ... maybe someone else did and his inner gremlin emerged ... I find it hard to believe. Snuggles and I have been close for a loooong time.
