You don't necessarily have to call security. You can call a suicide hot line to get a second opinion. You also ask the person if they have a plan or are they just having a terrible horrible no-good very bad day.
photosynthesis Posted November 10, 2005 Author Posted November 10, 2005
ive been to goucher to see a play.... but anyway what exactly is aspergers syndrome? Also its kind of harsh for secruity to automatically call the paramedics, kind of weird. God Bless, sam
which play did you see? how long ago? Aspergers Syndrome is a high-functioning form of Autism. People who have AS tend to have difficulty understanding basic social cues and relating to other people. However, unlike people with severe Autism, people with Aspergers tend to be very verbal, although due to social anxiety sometimes they may feel uncomfortable having conversations with strangers. People with AS also tend to develop REALLY odd interests... like, Kate is obsessed with country music. She will walk all around campus, listening to her headphones and sing country songs at the top of her lungs. She knows more about country than the WPOC disc jockeys, and she'll often call them up and yell at them for playing mediocre music. Goucher is a quirky kind of school, and because of its small class sizes and close-knit community, people with disorders like Aspergers tend to do extremely well here. I know at least 3 or 4 people with the disorder... one of them is OBSESSED with skyscrapers. You could mention any skyscraper/tower in the world, and he'll tell you when it was built, how long it took to construct, which materials it was built with, etc. For more information, go here: http://info.med.yale.edu/chldstdy/autism/aspergers.html
