Sojourner Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Just curious. I fall into the "junkie" category, although really only when I'm at work. When I'm home, I make a point of not watching, reading, or listening to the news unless there's something big happening.
homeschoolmom Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Does Open Mic count as a news source?

Lil Red Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 at work, i listen to CNN's podcast every hour. i check Google News several times throughout the day. at home, i try to catch local news at least once a day. so i guess i'm a junkie.

that's how I was when I was at CBS... I would read about 3 national papers a day and I was looking over the AP wires in ENPS all the time... and looking at Google News. But when I went home, I tried my best to get away from the news as much as possible. Now I mostly just read one newspaper and go to Google News a few times a day.
Carrie Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I check the news once a day. More than that gets depressing.
sweetpea316 Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Yeah, I don't know as much about current events as I should or could.
photosynthesis Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 most students here get their news from the Daily Show.

Well, stuff has happened, but this thread wasn't predicated on any particular event. It's just another random, pointless thread, like all the others I'm so fond of creating.

philothea Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I try to check Google News daily, to see if anything important is happening. I don't get any broadcast news or newspapers. Sometimes I get obsessed with a current event and will check everything about its progress continually. I used to do this with big hurricanes, until it got too depressing.
Era Might Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 (edited) I read the newspaper usually every day, but I never read the first section, where all the real news is. I just check out the front page, scan the op-ed page to see if anything piques my interest, then go on to the other sections (local, sports, etc). Take a recent example. I know there was a big hubbub over a lady named Harriet Miers. I don't know what the hubbub was about. I don't know why she was controversial. Heck, I don't even know what exactly the position she was filling is all about. At least I knew she was in the news. I'm more into ecclesiastical news. Edited November 10, 2005 by Era Might

Should Abby start her own blogsite? Edited November 10, 2005 by jaime

Plus, I already put just about everything that comes into my head on here.
