FTP program for Macs?

Does anyone know of a free, easy-to-use, FTP program for Macs?

Isn't that built into Safari? [url="ftp://user@some.site.com"]ftp://user@some.site.com[/url] ? Or, can you type (s)ftp at a terminal? I haven't connected my Mac to the internet yet, so I haven't tried.

I'm really not used to not having everything built in.

I don't use ftp, however, this site [url="http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/"]http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/[/url] is probably the best site for software, for either Mac or Windows...the link is to Mac though.

<rant>First of all, it's Mac, not MAC. MAC is an acronym for [u]M[/u]edia [u]A[/u]ccess [u]C[/u]ontrol. It's used to uniquely identify a network card. A Mac, on the other hand, is an abbreviation of Macintosh, the computer characterized by the Mac OS and made by Apple Computer. It's Mac vs. PC, not MAC vs. PC. Your PC's network card or wireless card has a MAC address on it, whether it's a PC or a Macintosh.</rant>

Second of all, it's simply YOUR opinion. You don't like Mac's, but that does not mean they objectively stink. There are quite a number of people (myself included) who prefer to use Macs over PC's.

In my work, I've found that they have fewer problems than PC's. I do desktop support for both Macs and PC's. I can count on one hand the number of security issues I've had with Macs. I regularly have to deal with viruses, malware, spyware and trojans on PC's. BTW, that's with virus protection.

I'm not anti-PC. I'm just pro good solutions.

Well, I'm sorry for using the wrong acronym. But, I used to have to work with mac in elementry school and all of middle school and they were pieces of carp.

Well, previous versions of the Mac OS (before Mac OS X) were fairly crash-prone and buggy. However, in ~2000, Apple released Mac OS X. It is based on a Unix core, which has been proven to be highly stable and reliable (big servers and mainframes tend to use Unix). It also removed my objections to using it. In the iterations that have followed, it has become a highly polished and modern OS.

Now, the only reason I would recommend that someone not buy a Mac would be if they run software that is not available for Macs, which is usually some games or specialized pieces of software.

A program I have used on Macs in the past that has worked well has been Fetch - although I suppose it is shareware. It's free for students and non-profits though, I believe.

I've been mad at Apple for 20 years, and I couldn't resist buying a new Mac. They're very different now. After lots of research, it was the best computer for the best price, no contest.
