Aloysius Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 the credit card rejected me cause there wasn't enough credit history on me!!! there has to be some mistake, I'm pretty sure I was gettin the special student one and clicked that I was NEW to credit, so obviously there is no credit history! lowsy credit card companies I didn't want their plastic anyway! I'll make my own plastic card with a magnetic strip on it :
stargirl3:16 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Meh, who needs a credit card. Debit cards work just as well.
Dreamweaver Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 So, you don't get tons of junk mail saying that you're "Pre approved" from dozens of companies?!? LUCKY! : I hate the huge pile of junk mail on my floor.
philothea Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Try a gas station card. They're usually the easiest. Either that, or retry with a company that actually does issue to college students.
Pio Nono Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 JMJ 11/14 - Thirty-third Monday Credit cards aren't a very good way to build credit - they're a way, but I'd recommend a small loan or something. They're much safer, especially for people who haven't used credit cards and don't have a credit history. We had lots of bad experiences with college students at the bank I worked at. I felt so bad for them.

littleflower+JMJ Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 lol this could be a blessing in disguise for you!
Sixtina87 Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 i would agree with these posts. I am only out of HS and landed my first real job in june right after graduation, every associate is required to have a store charge, my charge is maxed out all the time, even though its a $100 limit. i pay it off every week or at least ahlf of it. After awile of working i learned how not to spend money and once had $25 in checkling and now have way more than that and tons is savings!!!! So i slowly learned how to budget my money and spend less and less each week!!!! And debit is soooooooo much better than cash!!!!
Aloysius Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 i hate debits or credits, i just need something to establish my credit. i will not spend any money that I do not have, don't worry about me going into debt. I will only borrow a loan at interest from a usurer by profession who insists on charging usury no matter what on the thomistic principle that it be necessary and have a good aim. I really have no need of a loan right now, so I don't see the point in that. I'm getting a credit card because then I can set up an ebay account and sell a lot of my stuff, and it establishes credit so I'll be able to get a loan if and when I actually do need one. what would you have me do, take out a loan for a new pair of shoes?
Pio Nono Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 JMJ 11/15 - St. Albertus Magnus I was thinking along the lines of a student loan, that is if you're going to school. Sorry for trying to help.
Theoketos Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 How about a loan for several bolts of fabric with which to make your own suites.

franciscanheart Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 my credit is already messed up and ive never had a credit card. how did it happen? stupid bank. kept charging me and charging me and i wasnt getting statements and i went under like two dollars and then they charge you like twenty for going under and it got up to -80 before they shut it and called me. i was like gee thanks for letting me know BEFORE i owed you that much money. sheesh.
sweetpea316 Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I love my debit card. Soo much easier for me to use.

Just explaining why in my situation I don't think I should get some sort of loan at this point in time. Thanks for your advice though. as far as I know, it's harder to get a loan without a credit history than it is to get a credit card without a credit history. so to me it seems like an easier "in" into having credit. Proud2BCatholic139, haha i really feel you there, except if ever one day I want to purchase a plot of land and a house sadly, a credit history to apply for a loan is necessary

Though that can be a lot of money, I know.
