I think we did this a couple years ago (in fact, I think it was one of the first threads I started), but it's funny and deserves another go 'round...

Hehe, I'm actually a big enough nerd that I figured out what my real Elvish name would be. I'm Erin, which roughly means Ireland. In Elvish (I think Sindarin), that would be Tolannui, which means "Western Island".

Alatáriël Carnesîr
^^ elf name

Myrtle Loamsdown of Deephallow

So how does it come up with those? Is it programmed with Elvish or something?

My Elvish name is 'Celebriän Oronar' and my hobbit name is 'Orangeblossom Chubb-Baggins'....I think the hobbit one is cute, haha.

Call me a snob, but I can't stand the fact that the Elvish names are not proper Elvish at all. For example:

My Elvish name according to the generator: Larien Felagund

My actual Elvish name: Meldien Eruantale

I dunno, it just bugs me :idontknow: :nerd:

The Hobbit name generator actually gave me my screen name :) Azaelia Goldworthy of Michel Delving at your service *bows*

He made up Elvish names based loosely on a mixture Tolkien's Quenyan and Sindarin Elvish dialects and assigned them randomly to the various letters of a person's name. It's not even a remote translation of your real name.
