Dreaming of you ...

A friend and I often discuss significant dreams we've had. For a couple of years, we've both made a practice of sending descriptions of our dreams to a mutual friend who's a therapist who has a gift for interpreting dreams. Generally, we've found that our most vivid dreams are metaphors for whatever we're going through at the time.

Do any of the rest of you attach significance to your dreams?

My dreams are always really random and weird. They have people I know in them, but I doubt they mean anything really...

I can never really figure out what they mean...
Are they something God's trying to tell me, or are they indicative of something stuck up in my head, or some mixture? I just never can seem to figure it out.

Actually, I had the wierdest dream last night, which is making no sense to me! (See!)

I hate dreams. All the dreams I get are scary nightmares that make me afraid to go to sleep. which is why I don't like sleeping. Dreams smell of elderberries.

They help me understand my mental state, and help me realize if I'm dwelling on a certain thing too much. Often something I think about too much comes in the form of a bad or frightening dream for me.

I sometimes have seemingly religious dreams, but I don't attach any significance to them. Given the amount of time I spend thinking about religious matters, it would be pretty odd if it didn't seep into dreams too.

I have vivid dreams, but I don't pay much attention to them.

My subconscious gets to communicate with me in story details. I find It disturbing.

My dreams are about situations that happened in real life or what could happen in real life. They normally involve the people I know, and situations we have done in the past. It's like a mini-series in my brain. Like a reality show.

It's funny -- now that I've started figuring out what my dreams mean, I'm much less likely to share the details with people because it's generally very personal meanings.

sometimes i dream very weird things (like singing at night on a grassy field in front of a big white light with a phatmasser ive never met) and sometimes i dream things that actually end up happening in real life. no joke. sometimes i find significance in my dreams but for the most part is like a validation of what i already know is going on inside.


sometimes i dont know where they come from at all... (see previously mentioned dream)

very. and sometimes you sit there and youre watching/listening to things unfold around you and youre like okay if this happens next then this is definitely that dream i had like four years ago or whatever.... and it happens and youre like

One time, I thought my dream interpretation was correct and it was the complete opposite. I blamed my brain. Hehe.

They ring true to what I'm actually experiencing at a given point in life.

I'll give a recent example.

Several nights ago, I dreamt I was finally able to purchase a house. I'd totally fallen in love with it -- it was a stone, one-story house with a stone fence enclosing the yard. The yard was really nice -- well kept, lots of nice grass, and a couple of big shade trees. The house was built in, say, the 60s, with sort of a medieval inspiration in the design. It was really, really large inside -- plenty of room -- and when I was moving in my sister was with me, and I knew she'd be living with me and going to school. In fact, the house was big enough that I was planning on inviting several other people to live in it with me. And, I was excited because the former occupant was leaving several cool possessions in the house.

I e-mailed my friend, and this is, in part, what she said:
It suggests that you are yourself sturdy, in terms of mental health/ego and have very clear and good boundaries for yourself. At the same time, you are allowing others in at your discretion, but with a lot of love. It's a strong house, one capable of being defended and with a strong boundary.

As far as someone leaving cool possessions behind ... I take that to mean that you have absorbed gifts that are of value from others and theyre not necessarily physical gifts, but inner strengths you've gained from learning from others' lives.

My dreams smell of elderberries....lol. They help me none in my spiritual life in fact they do more harm than good. However I do find that at least a couple times a month I will be in a situation that I'm sure I dreamt of before...pretty wierd, but very fun
