Guest offsidewalk Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Someone posted this awhile back (but there was no response to it): "Does Jesus know what it feels like to be raped? When He died for our sins, did He also experience the pain that the sins that have been committed against us caused?" Can anyone comment on that? Did Jesus feel the pain of all sins when he was crucified? And in addition, did he feel the pain of literally ALL sins... all sins that were formerly committed and all sins that WOULD be committed in the future? I'd appreciate any feedback, thanks . -Sue
Laudate_Dominum Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 The prophets tell us that the Messiah hath "borne our infirmities" and "carried our sorrows". Christ took all the suffering of sin upon Himself. God took on a human nature becoming man like us in all things but sin. God did this out of perfect and infinite love for man, and love empathizes with suffering. Thus God's perfect love manifested in Christ for the redemption of mankind from sin compels me to assert that the man Jesus Christ, who is God, in fact loves every human being with an infinite love and a perfect all embracing empathy that is totally personal and individual, because God is personal and holds us all in His heart, and yet we can speak of this empathizing as human, because Christ is human as well as Divine. God suffered in a human capacity, but in a Divine power so as to express His infinite love in a human nature, reaching man in a most profoundly personal way. And yes, this redemptive act transcends time and encloses all of history and all sins. Christ suffering in His agony and His passion and death, is truly God suffering for us and with us, inspired by His infinite and perfect love which knows no bounds. I can assure you, Christ experienced the full horror and pain of sin without censorship and out of personal love for each individual human being for which He died to redeem personally. He has truly borne our infirmities and carried our sorrows, and by his wounds we are healed.
