beatty07 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 bro, just because I'm not convinced by your arguments and opinions doesn't mean I don't care about them. You clearly aren't impressed by my musings, as you accurately call them. But I'm not going to take that personally or accuse you of pride or indifference! Since it seems you're not the only one rubbed the wrong way by my post, I guess I must have chosen my words poorly. I'm sorry if I came off like a jerk.

I'm fine with you to not be convinced by my arguements and opinions, and I'm glad you do actually care enough to consider what others have to say about various issues, even when it contradicts your own views. Thank you for claifying your point of view, and for being humble enough to offer an apology for what seems to have been merely a poor manner of communication, rather than actual wrongdoing. All's forgiven. Please forgive me also if my manner of communication was poor.

Welcome to phatmass
Well, Thanks for the warm welcome. Sharing my beliefs here is only going to stir up debates, and I hate debates. Though, I like to take chances. I have Jesus and the Holy Spirit is my guide. I dont want to convert anyone I just want people to know Jesus, I know some Baptist, Catholics, and Methodist. that are in love with Jesus. Thats cool with me, Doctrine doesnt save, only Jesus does Edited November 23, 2005 by Oren
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 Catholics, methodists, and non-denoms have a differnt idea about who Jesus is. surley only one is correct. and on one will save us. Jesus will chose who to save its not up to you.
Paphnutius Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Orthodoxy and orthopraxy are both of equal importance because orthopraxy is lived orthodoxy no? Also EENS, I adressed your question regarding worshiping with Protestants in the Apologetics board. I am not sure if that was helpful.

Doctrine and man cannot pollute it, they imperfectly try to live and apply God's complex simplicity, which is Grace. Simply put, on a very basic level, must fundamental Christians think they just recieve Grace. That's how they come up with 'once saved always saved' and Sola Scriptura. Other Christians, such as Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, (in varying degrees) understand we participate with Grace. Not because God needs or wants our participattion, but because He honors and loves us and allows us.

Proud2BCatholic139 Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I wouldn't strongly recommend going to one because as most people said, it can pose a threat to your faith. However, it is not a sin. I have Christian friends who are not Catholic and it is cool, they ask me questions about Catholicism all the time. I just whip out the good ol' Cathechisim.
jmj Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I attended some non-denom services for my Anthropology research. Some things I did not participate in (communion) or agree with, but for the most part; I survived. It did wear me down after a while. I can see them being a threat to one's faith (with all due respect to our non-denom friends). I find that I now crave Mass more than I did before researching (I was attending Mass and the non-denom services, no worries), so that's a nice benefit!
tojo Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 When I first began attending Mass, I was still attending servise at the non-denominational church of which I was (then) a member. Even though I couldn't receive communion then, I quickly came to realize Mass was a very different sort of thing than an evangelical church service, and I very quickly began to prefer Mass.
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 its hard to come back to the church. after bieng gone for 6 months. i refused to be confirmed in the New order, and now i have to convince the youth ministry guy to let me in. some advice never leave the church.
