Guest kate Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 My entire family (who i love very dearly) is practicing Catholics - however, I've recently come to realize that they do a lot that is considered wrong by the church (i.e., missing mass when obligated, and other various sins). Now, naturally, this would not be an unsolvable problem, thanks to the love and mercy of Christ (it's sure how I get by!) - but they seem to deny that they are in any sort of state of sin. Recently, I sat with my mother in line for confession, only to have her pass her turn when it came to her. When I asked her about it, she got defensive and said it was "personal" and not to worry about it. Now, I love my family very much, and it truly hurts me to see them in a state of sin, without any desire to change it. I guess my question is, do I let it go, seeing as they are my elders, and probably know what they're doing without my help? Or do i put my two cents in and risk upsetting them, and if so, how on earth do i do so? I feel it would not be my place, but I have been stressing over it, and was hoping you could help me out. Thank you so much!
cappie Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Your own example would speak louder than any words you could utter.I do speak from experience. The only other thing you could say is if the subject came up, say missing Mass, speak from your own convictions, quietly and with respect. :
