Sojourner Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 ... what would it be? I played the clarinet for a number of years, and have taken piano and guitar lessons at various points. But if I could just pick up any instrument, it would be the violin. I still wish I'd learned it as a kid.
homeschoolmom Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Well, the piano... ... but my first thought was the alto recorder because it's fairly simple and sounds much less shrill than its soprano counterpart...
argent_paladin Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 That's easy! It would be the pipe organ! The preeminent instrument of the Roman Catholic Church. And also very difficult to play well.
tojo Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 The guitar, just because it would be so awesome to be able to strum out some praise songs whenever I wanted to.....
Andrea348 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 well i had to learn a little bit of everything in college since i'm a music teacher, but if i had to study one instrument more in depth it would be the bassoon....it was so much fun.
Birgitta Noel Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 The Cello. Hands down. Any other string and piano would be close seconds. And I wish I could play my flute better.
djc08 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 probably the violin. They just look so much fun. But I would love to be able to play the piano/organ.
Birgitta Noel Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I mused aloud one day that "I'd always wanted to play the cello...." and my Mother who had given me more than anyone could need or want (including piano and flue lessons) looked at me with a pained look on her face and said, "You did?!" as if she had somehow failed me. I assured her that it was ok and that I hadn't been deprived! LOL, it was sooo cute.

I don't think I've ever told my parents that I wanted to play the violin for exactly this reason ... I know they did what they could with the lessons I DID have. But if I have a kid, maybe I'll look into taking violin lessons with him or her. Although I don't suppose it would be cool to take lessons with mom ...
Sojourner Posted November 26, 2005 Author Posted November 26, 2005 Ooo, I just remembered a close second for me is hammered dulcimer. That's my hillbilly roots coming out. :
photosynthesis Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I would love to play the steel drum!
tojo Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005
oobe
Oboe, I assume?
