cmotherofpirl Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 actually I think it was a protestant minister in Scotland.
homeschoolmom Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) is the father of the rapture.
Brother Adam Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 Alot of it still confuses me, but I"m trying my best to work through David Currie's "Rapture".
tojo Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005
Fundies won't admit that they're obsessed with the rapture because they want to go to heaven but don't want to die to do so. It's as simple as that.
I think it's very arrogant to claim one understands the hearts and minds and beliefs of others better than they do themselves.

If you are suffering, as far as they are concerned, something is wrong with your spiritual life. I was one of them once.
homeschoolmom Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Yes, I think so. He created the whole system of dispensationalism... Cyrus (I think) Schofield moved it along... as did Hal Lindsey and now Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins
Aloysius Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 the Eucharist is sitll Christ's first coming. He remains with us always until the end of the age...
Brother Adam Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 Someone on phatmass (homeschoolmom?) should give lessons on why fundie end times theology is wrong. I don't know why I just 'don't get' most of their beliefs.
