PadreSantiago Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 Hey just a second ago I was trying to send someone a presonal message and I couldn't, which is weird because I've done it before. I get an error that says I'm not allowed to use the messanger feature. Can someone tell me what's up with this please?
homeschoolmom Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 Anyone who is marked with "hello, I do not rep the Church" is unable to PM. It's frustrating, but that's dUSt's rule.
PadreSantiago Posted December 3, 2005 Author Posted December 3, 2005 WHAT!?!?! That is soo annoying! OH my lord this is so unfair, i'm being punished for not being catholic?
homeschoolmom Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 If it's any consolation, you can still use the email feature...
PadreSantiago Posted December 3, 2005 Author Posted December 3, 2005 (edited) OK this thread is now a petition against Dust's intolerant rules. I hope that everyone will join me because this is harasment which breaks one of the forum rules. I am being harrassed because I'm not catholic.... funny quote btw! Homer is my prophet Edited December 3, 2005 by PadreSantiago
PadreSantiago Posted December 3, 2005 Author Posted December 3, 2005 are you going to sign my online petition?
Theoketos Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 I do not think that it is harassment because it is not unfair. Do not consider it a punishment, for it is not for your sake but for the sake of others. Often non-catholics come here and spam up the forum, which is harmless, but annoying. If a non Catholic came here and spam some creppy aliens, which has happened, it is more than just annoying but harmful. So it is nothing agaist you, but a precaution against future damage. Maybe dUSt would consider working it out so that non-Catholics can pm Church Millitant or higher?
PadreSantiago Posted December 3, 2005 Author Posted December 3, 2005 this hello I do not rep the church thing is like making jews wear the star thatlets you know they are jews. It's wrong! but I actually like having it there because not many people on this forum do. But i should be able to private message someone make a special case for me because I'm cool. Will you join me in my fight against intolerance?
Jaime Posted December 3, 2005 Posted December 3, 2005 dUSt's house dUSt's rules Your house Your rules make your own website.
PadreSantiago Posted December 3, 2005 Author Posted December 3, 2005 been there done that. Now I am asking you people to stand up for what is right and petition dust. This is a stupid rule and you know it I am being punished for not being catholic that's all there is to it.

PadreSantiago Posted December 3, 2005 Author Posted December 3, 2005 All I know is I'm being punished for not being catholic. I haven't spammed anyone or spammed that forums
Theoketos Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005
this hello I do not rep the church thing is like making jews wear the star tha tlets you know they are jews.
Even if it were unjust, that is silly to compare it too something so tragic. dUSt is not a nazi, and that remark trivilizes the terror that was/is nazism. Further, it is simply for the protection of the faithful youth from harassment, though not necessarily from you. However to be consistant this rule needs to apply to everyone. Finally and once again email email email. Also Theoketos on AIM I be.
Aloysius Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 the thing is, some non-Catholics way back in the day were harrassing Catholics through PMs, and dUSt backlashed by making the non-Catholic group unable to send PMs, it was the only thing he could do without being forced to micromanage all PM complaints. I don't like the rule, but that's the reason behind it. I'm not going to sign any petition over it, though, because that would be treating the use of a privately owned message board for private messages as if it is a right-- it is not. dUSt pays for this website to exist, dUSt decide what things its resources are focused on. you might as well demand that he publish all your posts on the front page and put a picture of you in the header.
cmotherofpirl Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Dearie you can email all of us anytime, but people were getting serious harrassment so we had to have a blanket rule for the whole category.
Cow of Shame Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 (edited) So, what exactly does it take to get one of those titles, anyway? ...not that I'm requesting one, I'm just curious. How is it that PadreSantiago got singled out? Did he state his religious beliefs outright in a thread & dUST happened to read it? I understand the rule....can someone have their status changed after being on the board long enough to earn (whomever's) trust? He proves he's not going to harrass or spam...and he gets the same rights as newbies & mediocre Catholics? Edited December 5, 2005 by Cow of Shame
Ash Wednesday Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Are we sure that all non-Catholics are banned from using PMs? I've known quite a few non-Catholics that were on here for quite some time and weren't singled out and I don't recall there being any major problems. (mulls and the brother adam family in their baptist days come to mind) I thought it was just posters that got "phishy" and "I don't rep the church" tags, like for saying something extra special and stirring up the pot on the board. I don't know, I just post here. Padre your avatar always makes me laugh, btw.
