im doing a project on Roman Medicine. I am doing a section on abortion and contraception. is this a sin?

If you are simply presenting a historical account of the facts there is certainly nothing sinful about it. In fact, such an endeavor could be seen as noble and good if your intention is to in some way draw out the negative effects that these practices had on humanity.

A project of this sort would be sinful if your intention was to present a systematic defense of immorality. Somehow I strongly doubt that this is your intention.
