Old_Joe Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I think snow in Texas is funny. If they get 2 inches they shut down everything. If we get 2 inches here it's nothing.
zabbazooey Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 True. my grandma said she was wearing her winter coat when it struck *gasp* 40 degrees (she lives in Houston) :
Old_Joe Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Not to mention that most vehicles are rear wheel drive which isn't good for this kind of weather.
franciscanheart Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 yeah its real snow for a couple of minutes and then its right back to sleet. COME ON SNOW!! and just to let you know... we're expecting ONE INCH of snow and everything is shutting down : heck yes.

doc Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I love snow, I cant wait till we get 3 or 4ft. I am so thankful for snow, because that water goes deep into the soil and then we have a very nice spring. I cant say that I hate snow, rain, or cold, beacause i feel that i would be against God. Since he gave us this beautiful climates. I see it as a different personality of His. Just imagine sunny days all days, hot weather all day, all 365 days with no change...that would stink, no changes, it would get boring. o well thats just me..
rkwright Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 so did anyone get any?? Nothin in the Bryan College Station area...it did rain though!
kaidoh Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 sleet, we wont get any till about midnight dfw
DancesforLove Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I can't believe its snowing! We're suppossed to get like two feet or something tomorrow I'm soooooo excited!
Lil Red Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005
Don't forget trying to walk up icy stairs. That's always fun too.
or falling down them - yes i did that this past weekend and it hurt a lot!
yeah right. my city has gotten measurable amounts of snow for the past 11 days, and they are just now getting the snow plows and salters out
franciscanheart Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 for the record.... 204 accidents reported in Dallas alone with 81 being serious. the roads really are bad. its not snow we're having problems with, its freezing rain (which = icey roads). seems the only people really getting anywhere tonight are the pizza delivery men and women.

I wish people wouldn't go out driving when it's dangerous, if they can possibly avoid it!! Even in IL we are having trouble in town getting the roads clear. The snow has packed into ice, and it's so cold the salt isn't having an effect.
qfnol31 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 I had fun on the roads tonight. I'm still waiting for snow.
Theoketos Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 The snow was a no show, but it did destroy my work day.
sweetpea316 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Yep...UNT closed at 1:00 yesterday and is totally cancelled today! hahaha
Colleen Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005
Yep...UNT closed at 1:00 yesterday and is totally cancelled today! hahaha
Texans are lucky. If we have 8 inches of snow, a -39 degree F windchill, and unplowed roads, they still won't cancel class.
Sojourner Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 It started snowing here an hour ago, and there's maybe an inch and a half on the ground now (or so it appears from out my window). People are leaving work early, particularly those with long commutes, so the roads are really congested. I think I'll just stick it out until traffic dies down. I'm trying to round up people for sledding, but so far no bites.
LiL Kat Said Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 they canceled my soccer game today b/c of the weather hahaha it's not raining or anything but it's just really cold : now THAT'S a texan for ya :
rkwright Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 over night we had freezing rain and ice... all the trees and my car were covered in ice... its not that bad (I'm orginally from Iowa so I've seen much worse) but it still shut everything down story though! My roommate was up at 7:30 to go somewhere, he came out and saw one of our neighbors holding a large bucket of very hot water. He was about to pour it on his car to de-ice it. My roommate warned him that the change in temperatures from extreme cold to boiling water could break the glass. The guy shrugged him off, and proceeded to throw (note throw not pour) the bucket of water... 1/2 second later the guy has 2 broken windows inside his car! Yes we're smart ones down here!
