tojo Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Yes, as we talked about online last night, and as they have said, get a St. Michael medal, pray to him. Perhaps you could ask others to pray it over you: "St. Michael the Archangel, defend Photosynthesis in battle, be her protection....." My friends and I are fond of praying that way, it seems to help. Do the holy water, go to confession and mention anything you can think of, ask a priest for a blessing, ask him to bless your house, etc, etc, ect.... You can't go on without proper sleep, and worse yet it is damaging your faith by causing to question God's goodness and care....
Socrates Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Take my hand. We're off to Never-never land!
Cow of Shame Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 sounds like you've been having this problem for a long, long time. have you talked to a doctor & therapist about this? not getting enough sleep can do crazy things to your brain & prematurely age you....
photosynthesis Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005
is this a new thing? Do you have a cold or sinus infection? Are you taking any medications including OTC stuff? Do you have any sleep apnea?
no cold.. I have meds that are prescribed for me, but I take them very erratically, which is bad for me. i don't have sleep apnea
sounds like you've been having this problem for a long, long time. have you talked to a doctor & therapist about this? not getting enough sleep can do crazy things to your brain & prematurely age you....
that must be why I don't get carded : i probably should talk to a doctor about it.. whenever I tell my doctor she just says "go to counseling" which I don't think I'm ready for. i wonder what this is doing to my brain... I stayed up all night doing my paper. I think I did a pretty good job. there's something about sleep deprivation that motivates me to do work... in fact, it's hard for me to get anything done when I've had a good night's sleep. So hopefully this will work for my advantage over finals week.
Guest T-Bone Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005
I have at least one virtually every night. You get used to waking up in a cold sweat after awhile...
I think I understand you more and more each day... (Or was that less and less?)
Church Punk Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 It seems thats when we are most prone to attack by satan. I have had several crazy nightmares before, but it seems that by Divine Providance I was saved from these. Keep praying, resist these some are absolutly terrifying, I had one that I was sleeping and I woke up and there was something in my bed a monster or demon or something as soon as I turned around. It was so freaky I could have sworn it was real. I pray the rosary everynight now till I fall asleep. It seems to work.
photosynthesis Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 the nightmares aren't about demons or monsters or anything. they are just a re-enactment of scary things that have already happened to me. I am not sure what the origen of the nightmares are but my doctor says i have PTSD
cmotherofpirl Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Then you do need to see a therapist. I had that once as well, and it does get very much better after therapy.
Cow of Shame Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 While some people probably have this problem due to demon attacks, it bothers me that using holy water is mentioned so often as a cure. For some, there were probably spiritual attacks going on. For others, I'm betting the holy water simply eased their worries...a bit of a placebo effect going on. I always viewed therapy as something for weak-minded people until a friend explained it to me this way... if you had a cold, you'd take medication, right? There's nothing wrong in helping out your natural, God-given immune system. Why then would it be wrong to get some mental 'medicine' to help you through some rough patches? I would suggest a professional therapist with Christian leanings, rather than a "professional" Christian with therapist leanings.

I probably would want to go to someone who was Catholic first, a therapist second. I do agree with you, though... holy water is awesome and everything but it doesn't undo bad things that people did to you..
Cow of Shame Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I just meant don't go to a priest that's read a few papers on therapy...go to a professional, that's all.
photosynthesis Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 I like priests better than professionals. priests are trustworthy, professionals are not.
DancesforLove Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Thats probably because your sick. If you go to the doctor you could tell them that and they can help.
