thessalonian Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 This morning it was -6 F here. That is way below normal. Just before Thanksgiving we were nearly 60. That's way above normal. Every day we are told that our weather is either above or below normal. We have above normal storms or it is below normal rain. More humid than normal, windier than normal. I've come to the conclusion that norma isn't normal.

Normal is simply an imaginary halfway point between two separate variables. Normal can be anything it wants to be... right now normal is too bloody cold.

I honestly read it like "where have I read this before. It gets old." or something like that.

Sojourner Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I thought it was funny ... Of course, I always laugh during that part of "A Christmas Story."

Jaime Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Hey I've camped in this weather. Of course I'm not that bright!

It's been pretty cold here in the past too. This morning, for example, I had to walk several blocks over to a law firm in what feels like 6 degrees. When it gets this cold, a few degrees one way or the other don't really matter. Although my car has already complained about having to start. And I know from past experience that it won't start if it gets down to 20 below.
Hey I've camped in this weather. Of course I'm not that bright!
I went through a kick a couple of years ago where I read a lot about arctic exploration -- it's actually pretty fascinating. But you do have to be a little crazy and/or dense to want to camp in cold weather.
Didacus Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Normal is what every one else is and what you are not.

That was more than enough.

If you recast it as being "adventurous" instead of "crazy" or "dense" it gets a lot more mileage, though.
