AlterDominicus Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005
I am now officially a member of the Knights of Columbus, 1st degree. : We had a total of 7 candidates (including me) who received their 1st degrees in Lynchburg, Virginia. Since our council (Blessed Trinity, 11741) doesn't have a 1st degree program, we had to travel northward (from Clarksville) to Lynchburg. We left Clarksville at 5pm, went west to pick up a couple people in South Boston, then had to meet with a deputy general in Danville (who knew the exact location of the hall where the ceremony would take place), and drove north to Lynchburg. We didn't arrive there till 7:40pm EST. 5 of the candidates were from our council, while the remaining 2 were from another. The ceremony started at 8pm EST, afterwards we had a meeting, then some food in their "lodge". We didn't get to leave till 10pm, and we arrived in Clarksville till near 12:00am. Then, I had to get a ride home to another town, which took about 30-40 minutes, not to mention stopping for gas. So by the time I stepped into the front door, it was 1:00am EST. I really, really, enjoyed the ceremony and the company. The Knights are awesome, and our council is a great crowd of devout Catholic men who want to serve the people, the Church, and Christ. There's a bunch more I can talk about, but I'll just leave it at that. In service to One, in service to all. EDIT: My official title is "candidate", I won't actually be dubbed a "knight" till my 3rd degree.
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you can make it to the Eucharistic Congress, there were about 20 Knights of Columbus there, they are so cool! And a BIG NEEDED help. Though I must say, at the cathedral, I felt like I was in England! :
prose Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005
I'll tell you everything I"m allowed to tell you about the process below:
I KNEW IT!!! I always thought that's what happened!! When Chad came home after he was initiated he told me that he swore on his honor as a Catholic male, so I never even bothered to ask what happened....
