i think abother thing about depression is that it messes up the way you percieve yourself and the people around you. Like, when I am depressed I think that I am the scum of the earth and no one wants anything to do with me... when that's not true.

I gave kinda dumb advice by poo-pooing recited prayer. I guess everyone is different. Recited prayers like the rosary and the psalms do help when the mind wanders or is anxious -- it gives me a frame to keep me reigned in, so to speak when I feel that way.

I guess I have different shades of depression -- I "switch around" a lot accordingly as far as praying is concerned. Sometimes my mind wanders in depression, othertimes it is dull and doesn't want to do anything.

just because I need a pick me up I guess.. I mean I pray every day.. but when I am not in the greatest of moods.. I go to the Lord.. and then I remind myself I am depressed.. and thats why I am seeking the Lord.. wish I could explain myself better

Chemical depression is treatable by talk therapy and/or meds.
There is also a sadness you can get after praying which I think is simply a longing for God.
