franciscanheart Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Does it bother you when you see people misspelling words? I am not talking about the more difficult words but rather the more common ones. For instance, if someone said "their" when they meant "they're", does your skin just crawl? Have you learned to note it mentally and move on without letting it bother you? Is this feeling common with English majors (or English 'nuts') or is it just something some people have and need to learn to deal with? Does it bother any of you? Confess!
Luthien Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 it bothers me a little bit, it doesnt make my skin crawl though.
homeschoolmom Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 I wish people wood be more careful with there words.
Jaime Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Spelling errors drive me nuts. (Especially when they're my own) I wish folks would be more careful with words Like the words "We've got tickets for the 10:50 movie. Can you make that?"
Snarf Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 One thing I can't stand is missuse of the subjunctive. I wish I was better at English.

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 I love when people mispell or misuse grammer, it makes me feel like I'm not the only one.
cappie Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Are you talking American English or the Queen's English as spoken by civilised people
philothea Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 The only mistakes that drive me really crazy are my own. With other people's writing, it depends on the context. If it's informal, like here, or email, I don't care much so long as I can understand what is being said. On websites or printed matter, typos and mistakes bother me a lot.
desertwoman Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 It doesn't bother me one bit for some reason, and I'm an English major myself.
