Dave Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 If you're not male, then kindly refrain from responding. Anyway, do any of you have one or more shirts (I don't mean a t-shirt) or one or more pairs of pants that you've had for, say, 5-10 years that still looks good and that you still wear? I'm asking because I have several collared shirts that are anywhere from 5-10 years old and still in great condition that I still like to wear. But now I'm wondering if I should give them to Goodwill.
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 im not that old so i can't answer for myself, but i think a lot of people have clothes that are 5-10 years old that they where.
Cow of Shame Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005
still in great condition that I still like to wear.
Um, is this a trick question? I've got an uncle that still wears a maroon suit with large lapels. If you like it & it's in good condition, why would you give it up? Or is someone from Gay Eye for the Straight Guy pounding down your door?
RC_ Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I grew out of my shirts from 5-10 years ago, but I have some from 3 years ago that look fine.
beatty07 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I think it's a good exercise in poverty of spirit to wear clothes as long as is reasonable. I'm squeamish about donating old unwanted clothes to goodwill so I can buy new ones. I feel like it's saying "well this isn't nearly good enough for me but it'll do for poor people." I'm not saying you have to wear a threadbare suit to a job interview, but still....maybe that's just me.
jiyoung Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 My parents still have clothing that's even older than me (I'm turning 19 on Saturday) that's in good condition and that they still wear... oops, I'm not a guy, but still.
scardella Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I've got clothes that stilll fit me from 5-10 years ago. I still wear some of it on occasion. Some of it winds up becoming used for grass cutting, painting, etc.
Theoketos Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Wear clothes until you do not half to do so.
Timothy Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I do , mostly because I hate shopping and spending money on clothes
Timothy Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Oh yeah, I do go through my closet at least once and give away clothes to good will or the childrens home.
eddieloudog Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I would us them if I were you. Just make sure that the collars didn't shrink over the years. Nothing looks worse on a guy than a shirt that is tight around the collar!
Cow of Shame Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005
Just make sure that the collars didn't shrink over the years.
Riiiight. No, I didn't gain weight. My shirt shrank!
Brother Adam Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 The oldest clothes that I still have that I wear are about 10 years old. Who cares about fashion anyway. If it covers me and isn't revealing.. it works.
Matty_boy Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 If you take them to Goodwill, I might buy them. I'd say hang on to them.
daugher-of-Mary Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 My dad is still wearing trousers he bought before making a visit to the Soviet Union. Do the math...he's had them for a LONG time. lol.
Paphnutius Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I still have collared shirts that I wear from early high school and what not (5-6 years ago). I know this is off topic, but I do not think that a pair of jeans are really comfortable until after they have been broken in for about 6 years. The same goes for t-shirts!
