Sojourner Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 OK, I realize this is a narcissistic thread, but I just got the funnest gift from our receptionist, who I enjoy very much. (As an example, once we were talking about her homemade creme brulee, and she said said it was like "eating an angel's cheeks" She let me try it and it was quite tasty, actually) Anyway, she gave me a set of Christmas bells with the following note: Abby -- wrap these bells around your ankles and dance and laugh just cause you love the world. It really brightened my mood this morning! :

Carrie Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 And creative! Those kinds of gifts are the coolest because you know they really come from the heart.
Sojourner Posted December 22, 2005 Author Posted December 22, 2005 Totally! I try to make the gifts I give as personal as possible, so it's nice when the favor is returned. I think it shows that you really care about a person when you take a little time to think about something that they will personally enjoy or find humorous or can really use.
Jaime Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 She may have an ulterior motive. If you wear the bells, she can hear you coming!

Jaime Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 *jingle jingle jingle" I'm sorry.. what did you say? Where'd everybody go?
Sojourner Posted December 22, 2005 Author Posted December 22, 2005 OK, he's gone now. Whew! So Carrie, how'd your trip into work go today?
Carrie Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Close call! It was a breeze. No hitchhiking today. I'm thinking of putting bells on my office door. I can nap that way. When I hear the bells, I can get up quickly. I like this idea.

Glad to hear you made it in OK! And I like the bells on the office door idea. I wish I had an office door so I could do something like that. It would at least stop my co-workers from walking up behind me and scaring the carp out of me while I'm concentrating on stuff. Which they get great amusement out of.
Carrie Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Get a small mirror and plant it on top of your computer screen. So when they're coming up behind you, you've got fair warning.

It's just that when I'm concentrating on something I tune out everything else going on ... I don't hear stuff or see stuff other than what I'm working on. It's a great tool to allow me to get stuff done ... but leaves me open for many pranks.
