Nathan Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Can a layman own his own monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament inside? I ask, because I've seen monstrances for sale, some very big and some very small, at a few online Catholic stores, presumably available to anybody. Thanks.
Fidei Defensor Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Not in his own private home / home chapel. Although, you could technically own a monstrance, you cant personally "own" Jesus in the blessed sacrament. It can only be reserved in a Church or chapel, under the direction of an ordained person I believe.
Paphnutius Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I agree with Fidei. One might own a monstrance I believe, but one cannot keep a consecrated Host.
