Didacus Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006
i know for certain that in a certain area of massachusettes, within some kids, wearing a rosary around your neck is a symbol of being in a gang. if only they knew what the real meanings of rosaries are and the immense blessings that come with praying it are and how WONDERFUL our Mother Mary is!!
Hence my previous point. I've been Catholic all my life and only recently am I starting to truly discover prayers.
Lil Red Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006
If the perception of the rosary is slightly twisted in the world today, we should strive to clarify its meaning and purpose rather than simply object. If an atheist wears a rosary, how should this offend me? I would not let it offend me, rather I would appreciate the opportunity to open a discussion with the person. Even though they don't believe in God, God is with them.
awesome post!!
Didacus Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Thanks. My mother used to watch this show when I was young. It was about a priest who would regularly talk to Jesus. It was a great show. On one scene, the priest is visiting a parish in Russia (its an old black and white show), and since people where not allowed to have mass, the church had been transformed into a warehouse for grain. The priest was shocked. He walked in the church and saw an old crucifix that had been layed in the corner. "Lord," he asked, "What have they done to your house?" "EVeryone comes here," awnsered the Lord, "and as they come to feed themselves with grain, they are reminded of Me every day and their souls are fed as well." I loved that reply. I must have been 11 or 12 years old (maybe?) but I never forgot it. My psot was akin to this.
