p0lar_bear Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 So, on one of my recent trips into Barnes and Noble (it's like Mecca to me, really...) I started reading "Pagan Presence: An Introduction to Earth-Centered Religions" by River and Joyce Higginbotham. I found it very interesting (no, I have no intention of joining them). So far it seems to be a remarkably honest presentation (based on what I already know of neopaganism), but I'm not sure how respected they are by the neopagan community. Does anyone know if their presentation is an accurate portrayal of how neopagans in general understand themselves? Basically, does anyone know if learning about paganism from these two is like learning about Catholicism from Fr. Greeley or Charles Curran?...
p0lar_bear Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 I went ahead and googled the authors. Apparently they are respected by the pagan community and their book is used in a number of courses on neopaganism, so I'm going to take it as representative. (If anyone knows anything to the contrary, let me know). Any other recommendations for books on paganism in general or one of the major neopagan religions in specific (Wicca, modern druidism, etc.)?
