toledo_jesus Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 that's right! yours truly, the resident curmudgeon and minimalist of Phatmass, is going to attend a P&W...service(?)...tonight. Followed by Benediction. I feel very strange. Maybe I just want to see if someone speaks in tongues or something like that. Anyone have any advice?

I think you're changing We'll have to see where this goes
morostheos Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 (edited) Be prepared for this :applause: and this and don't worry if you look like this because people at P&W are usually very welcoming and will probably make sure you feel welcome. Also, there may be hugging involved... Edited January 16, 2006 by morostheos

Sojourner Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I P&W. But then, I'm an ex-Prot. We all had to like it.
philothea Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Try not to belt people who attempt to hug you....?
philothea Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006
P&W=?
Praise and worship. Charismatic. I see you are in Steubenville... I suppose you will learn soon enough. :
Jaime Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 If its your first time I would go light on the P and stick mainly with the W. You can work up to equal shares of P and W later. Have fun! I hope the music is good!

toledo_jesus Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 it was fairly low-key. Sang some Christian contemporary music. A couple people put their hands in the air. No speaking in tongues or anything weird like that. Afterwards had a discussion group, which was alright. Seeing as how I didn't know anybody there, I kept my mouth shut. Oh and Dad, this parish has their tabernacle in the center behind the altar...

photosynthesis Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 was it the FOP in Fairfax? I've gone there once or twice. Some P+W is really good. But just because there's P+W doesn't mean that it's charismatic (i.e. there's more emphasis on the Holy Spirit and the charismatic gifts). I've been going to these young adult gatherings called "Spirit & Truth" which has adoration, benediction and p+w. It's really awesome because they sing contemporary praise + worship before +during some of the exposition, and then during the Benediction they sing the Tantum Ergo and the Salve Regina and O Saving Victim and Holy God, We Praise Thy Name.... all my favorite traditional adoration songs. So I get my fix for traditional music and P+W all in the same place.
