rkwright Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Is it ok to say prayers during the mass that normally only the Priest would say? Not say consecration... but I'm really fond of the prayer in the trindentine mass that goes 'Let not the partaking of Your Body, o Lord Jesus Christ, which I, though unworthy, presume to receive, turn to my judgment and condemnation; but though Your goodness may it become a safeguard and an effective remedy, both of soul and body. Who live and reign with God the Fater in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end.' Is it ok for me to say this quietly to myself during a N.O. mass?
cappie Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Yes : You can say the prayers quietly along with the priest. When I was an altar server at the time of the "old" Mass we used to "read" the prayers of the Mass because they were said in a low voice with the priest facing away from the people.
